    The highlights of this cruise

Rituals, rhythms and rainforests: a new kaleidoscope of creation awaits you every day on routes that combine rarely visited destinations and South Seas classics. In secluded worlds, as if painted by a master’s hand, small atolls add splashes of colour and reveal exotic life above and below the water. Real dream destinations for explorers that can often only be reached by Zodiac.

    show complete itinerary

Mysterious rituals and mystical relics, lush vegetation and exotic species: your own story of discovery of the South Seas unfolds on nimmt auf der Robinson Crusoe Island, where numerous endemic plants grow. Easter Island is a highlight and is shrouded in legend. Were the moai statues used for ancestral worship? How were they transported? What caused the civilisation there to vanish? With your experts, you will shed light on the myths and legends* as well as the mystery surrounding the “birdman”*. After dreamlike views of the uninhabited Ducie Atoll, the most southerly atoll on earth, the story of the Bounty is brought to life on Pitcairn. You will set foot on yet more historic terrain on Mangareva, the cradle of Polynesian Catholicism. As you venture further into the ocean, relaxing days at sea, which are ideal for studies at the Ocean Academy, alternate with exciting destinations yearning to be explored. The Zodiacs will take you to insider tips such as Raivavae with its emerald-green lagoons, coral reefs, mango and banana trees. One of the prettiest lagoons in Polynesia surrounds Tubuai, with a fringe of coral reefs and a dream beach. Be sure to keep a lookout for the Kuhl’s lorikeet with its precious decorative feathers when you land on Rimatara. The beauty of Rurutu shines through in its rugged mountain landscape and mysterious caves. Finally, enjoy a little more relaxation in the turquoise Pacific while swimming and snorkelling* in Moorea – pure paradise. By now you will know that Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island really exists, even several times over.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Your ship - HANSEATIC inspiration

    The new expedition class

The naming ceremony of the HANSEATIC inspiration took place in Hamburg on 11 October 2019. Together with its structurally identically sister ships HANSEATIC nature (2019) and HANSEATIC spirit (2021), the small and state-of-the-art expedition ship explores remote destinations and visits the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes on challenging routes.

The new expedition class – which offers space for a maximum of 230 guests (or 199 guests on Antarctic cruises and Spitsbergen circumnavigations) – sets standards in terms of variety, comfort and personal space. This is why our ship has more open deck space than any other expedition ship. Find out more! HANSEATIC inspiration was launched in October 2019.

    Robinson Crusoe Island

The Robinson Crusoe Island, part of the Juan Fernández Archipelago, is located far out in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Chile. This wild and remote island served as inspiration for Daniel Defoe's famous novel "Robinson Crusoe". Today, you can explore the unique flora and fauna of the island, much of which is endemic, and follow in the footsteps of the historical castaway Alexander Selkirk, whose lonely years on the island served as the basis for Defoe's work. From its lush hills to its crystal-clear waters, Robinson Crusoe Island is a true paradise for adventurers and nature lovers.
