Five stars, five ships – a total of 341 ships were evaluated, and all five luxury and expedition ships of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises received the highest scores. They were the only ships in the world to be awarded five stars by Insight Guides (formerly known as Berlitz Cruising and Cruise Ships). This achievement earns Hapag-Lloyd Cruises the coveted title of ‘Best Fleet Worldwide.’
For the first time since 2019, the Cruise Guide again presented the "Cruise Guide Awards" during an event at the Cruise Days in Hamburg. The EUROPA 2 once again received the award for best ship in the "Gastronomy" category. The HANSEATIC spirit received the award for best "Routing".

The EUROPA 2 was once again awarded the Kreuzfahrt Guide Award in the "Gastronomy" category as part of the annual Cruise Congress at the Cruise Night on 8 November 2018.
Announced at “The Wave Awards 2018” ceremony, held at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ was the winner in the category of ‘Best Adventure / Expedition Cruise Line’.
The Deutscher Kreuzfahrtpreis (German cruise line award) 2018 was presented by Oliver P. Mueller, publisher of the Kreuzfahrtträume cruise guide, at Cruise Europe Night. Karl J. Pojer, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, collected the awards in the “Best Expedition Product” and “Best Cuisine” categories on behalf of the company.
On the occasion of the 2017 Cruise Congress, the annual industry get-together held on 9 November 2017 in Hamburg, the Kreuzfahrt Guide Award 2017 was presented to top cruise ships for the ninth time. The EUROPA 2 was named the best ship in the "Gastronomy" category for the fifth time in succession.
On the occasion of the 2016 Cruise Congress, the annual industry get-together held on 16 November 2016 in Hamburg, the top cruise ships were presented for the eighth time with the Kreuzfahrt Guide Award 2016. The EUROPA 2 was named the best ship in the “Gastronomy” category for the fourth time since its launch.
At the Cruise Europe Night held on 9 September 2015, the EUROPA 2 won an award in the “Restaurant” category, winning the prize for best restaurant at sea for its French speciality restaurant “Tarragon”.
For the first time in its 16-year history, Relax Guide has awarded lilies not only to wellness hotels, but also to cruise ships. The EUROPA 2 received the Relax Guide Spa Award 2015 with top marks (four lilies/20 points) in the "Spa" category, while in the "Luxury" category both the EUROPA and the EUROPA 2 were awarded the highest score of 20 points and four lilies.
"Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has undertaken lots of pioneering work over the years, especially with its expedition ships and, for example, trips through the Northwest and Northeast passages. The HANSEATIC was the first non-Russian passenger ship to conquer the latter route. But many smaller ports can also be found in the routes of the luxury ships EUROPA and EUROPA 2; they anchor in secluded bays to take guests ashore in the ship's tenders, or surprise with a spontaneous Zodiac ride," says Oliver P. Mueller, editor of the German cruise magazine Koehler Kreuzfahrt Guide, speaking of the award presented to Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
The German Sunday newspaper presented the themed cruises programme with the award on the basis of last year's World Cup Talk cruises held during the FIFA World Cup. This successful format is also to be repeated on board the EUROPA and EUROPA 2 for the 2016 UEFA European Championship.
Publishers Bellevue and More presented the top cruise ships with the Kreuzfahrt Guide Award 2014 on the occasion of the 2014 Cruise Congress, the annual industry get-together held on 11 November 2014. The EUROPA 2 was honoured in two categories - the 5-stars-plus ship* achieved the distinction of best ship for both its service and its cuisine.
Publishers Bellevue and More presented awards to the top cruise ships of the year during the annual industry get-together on 5 November 2013 with the theme "Branche im Aufbruch - Neue Impulse fuer die Kreuzfahrtwelt!" (Sector in upheaval - new impulses for the cruise world!). The panel of experts named the EUROPA 2 the best ship in the "Gastronomy" category.
