    The highlights of this cruise

Are the paradises of the South Pacific really how we imagine them? In search of answers to this question, relaxing days at sea alternate with exciting islands. Immerse yourself in the South Seas feeling while swimming and snorkelling* on Moorea. The Austral Islands are well off the familiar cruise routes. Again and again, the Zodiacs will reveal true insider tips, with shore visits allowing you to experience pure, unspoilt nature. The beauty of Rurutu shines through in its rugged mountains and mysterious caves. Keep a lookout for the rare Kuhl’s lorikeet when you land on Rimatara. The lagoon of Tubuai is fringed by coral reefs. Enjoy the beach where Fletcher Christian of the legendary Bounty once wanted to settle. Your dreams of a deserted emerald-green lagoon will be fulfilled on Raivavae – it’s like a miniature version of Bora Bora. You will set foot on yet more historic terrain on Mangareva, which is considered the cradle of Polynesian Catholicism. Pitcairn was the refuge of the Bounty mutineers in 1790, and you can meet their descendants here. Afterwards, marvellous views of the uninhabited Ducie Atoll await you. Well prepared by the lectures of your experts and your own studies in the Ocean Academy, you then reach a destination full of legends and scientific theories: Easter Island. Its moai statues are the silent guardians of an island that has been shaped by myths and legends* and with around 1,000 years of settlement history shrouded in sagas – which will also lead you to the mystery of the “birdman”*. Robinson Crusoe Island will show you how to get away from it all, a feeling you can take home with you.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Your ship - HANSEATIC spirit

    The new expedition class

The naming ceremony of the HANSEATIC spirit took place off the coast of Helgoland on 24 August 2021. Together with its structurally identically sister ships HANSEATIC inspiration (2019) and HANSEATIC spirit (2019), the small and state-of-the-art expedition ship explores remote destinations and visits the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes on challenging routes.

The new expedition class – which offers space for a maximum of 230 guests (or 199 guests on Antarctic cruises and Spitsbergen circumnavigations) – sets standards in terms of variety, comfort and personal space. This is why our ship has more open deck space than any other expedition ship. Find out more!
