    The highlights of this cruise

Blue-and-white glaciers and vast tundra will be the backdrop to your experiences on Svalbard. Reindeer, walruses and Arctic foxes await you here. Every day, the captain and crew adjust the course flexibly according to the weather and ice. With some luck, you might spot polar bears from the deck or at a respectful distance in the Zodiacs. On landings and hikes you can feel the remoteness, and on starry nights there is a good chance of admiring the magical Northern Lights. Your small expedition ship will take a course through Norway’s Inside Passage, hugging the coastline, but first you will cruise off the legendary North Cape. The route continues through a dramatic landscape in which imposing fjords combine with Viking history, troll legends and architecturally charming towns – like in Tromso, the “gateway to the Arctic Ocean”, and on the Lofoten Islands with their idyllic fishing villages. The famous Geirangerfjord with its rock faces and waterfalls is also on your route before Hamburg, the home port of the HANSEATIC nature, marks the end of your cruise.

---- The ice conditions determine the course here (see map).

The itinerary depends on official approval, weather and ice conditions. The natural experiences and wildlife or Northern Lights sightings described are possibilities on this expedition and are not guaranteed.

    Your ship - HANSEATIC nature

    The new expedition class

The naming ceremony of the HANSEATIC nature took place in Hamburg on 4 May 2019. Together with its structurally identically sister ships HANSEATIC inspiration (2019) and HANSEATIC spirit (2021), the small and state-of-the-art expedition ship explores remote destinations and visits the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes on challenging routes.

The new expedition class – which offers space for a maximum of 230 guests (or 199 guests on Antarctic cruises and Spitsbergen circumnavigations) – sets standards in terms of variety, comfort and personal space. This is why our ship has more open deck space than any other expedition ship. Find out more!
