    The highlights of this cruise

Your adventures begin with Iceland’s natural phenomena: surreal, exciting and bursting with sagas and myths. In Patreksfjordur, your team of experts will accompany you through the small town and the surrounding area. The Westfjord panorama and Dynjandi waterfall* illustrate the legacy of the Ice Age in Iceland. When cruising off Hornvik with its green cliffs, you will inevitably think of Ireland. The old herring factory in Djupavik, which has now been turned into a museum, tells the story of prosperous times. Akureyri, located deep in the fjord, welcomes you as a northern gem. Lava formations and craters let you experience Iceland’s rugged north*, as does a sightseeing flight over the volcanic landscape* or a ride on Icelandic horses*. It only takes one step to cross the Arctic Circle on Grimsey. After passing the partly glaciated island of Jan Mayen, a legendary destination lies ahead of you: Svalbard. Explorer’s terrain with the striking silhouette of a peak and the habitat of polar bears, whales, Arctic foxes and reindeer. Here, the captain and crew’s polar experience ensures spectacular moments when cruising off glaciers, on landings with the Zodiacs and during many hikes with your team of experts. Walruses often gather off the island of Prins Karls Forland. Ny-Alesund is one of the northernmost settlements in the world and is home to international scientists who study the climate here. Impressive blue-and-white phenomena are the 14th July Glacier and the Monacobreen in Liefdefjord, where you will become an explorer yourself. The rugged cliffs of the Smeerenburgfjord set the final accent – simply unforgettable.

The itinerary depends on official approval, weather and ice conditions. The natural experiences and wildlife sightings described are possibilities on this expedition and are not guaranteed.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Your ship - HANSEATIC nature

    The new expedition class

The naming ceremony of the HANSEATIC nature took place in Hamburg on 4 May 2019. Together with its structurally identically sister ships HANSEATIC inspiration (2019) and HANSEATIC spirit (2021), the small and state-of-the-art expedition ship explores remote destinations and visits the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes on challenging routes.

The new expedition class – which offers space for a maximum of 230 guests (or 199 guests on Antarctic cruises and Spitsbergen circumnavigations) – sets standards in terms of variety, comfort and personal space. This is why our ship has more open deck space than any other expedition ship. Find out more!
