Scheduled flight from Germany to Dublin
Dublin/Ireland, departure 19.00 hrs
Scilly Isles/Great Britain
Fowey, from 8.00 to 19.00 hrs
In comparison, the backdrop to the coastal town of Fowey has a more Mediterranean feel. At the mouth of the river Fowey, the town stretches along a steep coastal slope, with white sail boats and motorboats creating a beautiful contrast to the azure water. A few kilometres away, you can immerse yourself in the fairy-tale Lost Gardens of Heligan*. Originally created in the 18th century, this green oasis was forgotten in the turmoil of two world wars; after many years of slumber, the gardens were rediscovered and restored around two decades ago. Enjoy the equally charming classical garden architecture of the Victorian era on a visit to Lanhydrock House and its gardens*. Perhaps the most elegant manor house in Cornwall, Lanhydrock House has appeared in numerous television productions and will take you back to the 19th century.
Isle of Portland, from 8.00 to 19.00 hrs
Located in the English Channel, the Isle of Portland is the starting point for historical highlights from various eras. A hike along the Jurassic Coast* will turn back time by around 200 million years and provide insights into the age of the dinosaurs. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this area feels like a land before time. But the steep cliffs aren’t just known for their fossils – they also offer spectacular views of the striking Durdle Door rock formation. Meanwhile, the world-famous, prehistoric Stonehenge and Salisbury* were created by human hands. The stone altar of concentric circles has a mystical feel and is the setting of numerous legends and sagas. In Salisbury, you will find yourself wondering what stories the walls could tell in the medieval town and the 13th-century Salisbury Cathedral. The circular Lulworth Cove, where you will stop on your scenic journey through Dorset and visit to Corfe Castle*, seems almost too flawless to have evolved naturally. Special sea currents and the coast’s geological features created this perfectly formed bay.
Isle of Wight
A refined British experience awaits you in Cowes on an island tour in classic cars* across the Isle of Wight. Allow the owners of elegant cars to show you the locals’ favourite places and provide insider tips that you won’t find in any guidebook. Royal Osborne House* exudes both Mediterranean and British flair: Queen Victoria’s summer residence was modelled on Italian palaces.
Relaxation at sea
Scheveningen (the Hague)/Netherlands, from 8.00 to 20.00 hrs
Scheveningen, the largest coastal resort in the Netherlands, welcomes you with a magnificent promenade, countless bars, restaurants and beach clubs. Enjoy diverse insights into the cities of the Hague and Delft* on a panoramic trip through the third-largest city in the Netherlands and a visit to the home of the famous blue-and-white porcelain. Explore the Royal Delft factory and watch the master painters at work. Alternatively, romantic canals and little alleys will lead you through Amsterdam*, rightly known as the “Venice of the north”. Soak in the relaxed atmosphere and the charm of the many bridges and canals. Weather permitting and if the authorities allow, in the afternoon the Zodiacs will take you to the long sandy beach at Scheveningen, the perfect setting for long walks. From this vibrant coastal resort, your route will continue to the isolated Wadden Sea.
