    The highlights of this cruise

Associations only become evident through experience. Your circumnavigation of Japan with the HANSEATIC inspiration describes the insightful route to this country, on which you will get to know it first-hand. Starting on Honshu’s rarely visited west coast, explore fishing villages and rice fields near Wajima on the Noto Peninsula*. A hike along the Kuniga Coast* shows the geology and remoteness of the Oki Islands. From Sakaiminato, the “twin” of Mount Fuji can be seen while hiking on Mount Daisen*. Mysterious, remote and little-known: South Korea’s close relationship with nature is revealed on a coastal hike through Igidae Park* in Busan. Experience a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its volcanic peaks and lava tunnels* on Jeju Island. Back on Kyushu, Japan’s third-largest main island, Nagasaki tells a moving story. White beaches and tropical forests: on Yakushima, the Nansei Islands live up to their reputation as the “South Seas of Japan”. Shikoku, Japan’s smallest main island, boasts natural and cultural treasures. Surrounded by mountains, a historic castle in Uwajima takes you back to the Edo period, or stroll through the old town of Uchiko* with its traditional trading houses. Japan’s landmark towers above Shimizu: Mount Fuji*. The buildings of the megacity Tokyo also reach sky-high. Near Miyako, explore Sanriku Fukko National Park on a coastal hike*. Alternatively, visit the Ryusendo limestone cave*. Once you reach the northernmost main island of Hokkaido and explore the small rocky island of Okushiri in the company of your experts, you’ll have completed the feat: your circumnavigation of Japan.

When the ship is at anchor, the ship’s tender boats or the Zodiacs will be used.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Your ship - HANSEATIC inspiration

    The new expedition class

The naming ceremony of the HANSEATIC inspiration took place in Hamburg on 11 October 2019. Together with its structurally identically sister ships HANSEATIC nature (2019) and HANSEATIC spirit (2021), the small and state-of-the-art expedition ship explores remote destinations and visits the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes on challenging routes.

The new expedition class – which offers space for a maximum of 230 guests (or 199 guests on Antarctic cruises and Spitsbergen circumnavigations) – sets standards in terms of variety, comfort and personal space. This is why our ship has more open deck space than any other expedition ship. Find out more! HANSEATIC inspiration was launched in October 2019.
