Tue 13.08.2024 Praia da Vitoria/Terceira (Azores), Portugal – Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira
This 18-hole paradise lies 375 m (1,230 ft) above sea level. Nestled in a sea of flowering azaleas and hydrangeas, the rather broad fairways make their way through lush green vegetation, providing players of any level with a fair foundation for a good score. The only drawback of the proximity to the Atlantic, combined with the elevation, is that it makes the course very susceptible to wind. – Take care when choosing your club.
Thu 15.08.2024 Ponta Delgada/Sao Miguel (Azores), Portugal – Campo de Golfe das Furnas
Golf was played here on a nine-hole course back in 1936, which makes this one of the oldest golfing options in the Azores. The 18 British-style holes have been here since 1992, running past very mature trees in places. Despite this, the fairways are relatively broad and lead to very playable greens. The clubhouse is definitely a highlight at the end – in very British fashion.
Sun 18.08.2024 Porto Santo (Madeira), Portugal – Porto Santo Golf
Golfing legend Severiano Ballesteros made a dream come true here and created an 18-hole challenge. The champion deftly integrated the natural geological conditions into his design. He divided it into a north course, which runs along the coastal cliffs in spectacular style, and the south course, which features plenty of water in a more American fashion. The course also offers a remarkable six par 5 holes. The club’s location means that on some days, the wind off the Atlantic has its say on the scorecard.
Thu 22.08.2024 Marbella, Spain – Club de Golf Finca Cortesin
A host of the Solheim Cup in 2023, this parkland course brings some unique qualities to the Andalusian hills. The sweeping fairways are shaped by the natural conditions and some heavily modulated playing areas in places. This makes for an exciting and challenging game, which is also influenced by well-positioned bunkers. – Particular attention is paid to the handicap index on this course: Gentlemen: – 28 / Ladies: – 36.
