This 18-hole course in the Spanish hills is famous for its wide open green spaces. The final playing areas cover 32 m (105 ft) on average. This means that even the putter needs to be able to make the distance on the green. On the other hand, the bunkers shouldn’t be a problem, since they tend to lie to the side of the wide fairways. A course for strategists.

The Los Olivos championship course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr in 1984. The creation by this master architect follows his philosophy of “a difficult par but an easy bogey”, with very little rough, plenty of water and straightforward, flat terrain. Of course, there are also a number of bunkers and a variety of native trees to add to the strategic interest of your round.
Mon 05 Aug, Cadiz – Montenmedio Golf & Country Club
Pines, palm trees and putting lines: one of the most naturally scenic golf courses in Spain awaits your visit. Set in the highlands of Cadiz, the wide fairways are lined with beautiful mature trees, which demand a lot of precision from players during their round. The tricky greens with their treacherous bunkers add to the challenge. You will be rewarded for your efforts by stunning views of the typical white villages of the area, such as Vejer de la Frontera, Benalup and Medina. Severiano Ballesteros once said of this course, “Montenmedio is one of those golf courses that no golfer should miss!”
Peter Martin was Born in Yorkshire, north east England, but grew up in Northamptonshire. Golf was the sport which gripped him the most at an early age. Having met his now wife in Australia, he followed her to Germany, where he started his apprenticeship with the PGA of Germany. He has now been a member or the PGA Lehrteam for 20 years. His experiences as Exam Committee member of the PGA, Qualified Health Coach and County Coach for Lower Saxony, have all been a springboard for His great enthusiasm for the game and a desire for adventure in the Sport of golf.
