From Hamburg, the EUROPA will set sail for the United Kingdom, finally calling at NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE again, after a relaxing day at sea. Each of the seven bridges over the river that gave the city its name tells its own unique story from Newcastle’s long history. Today, this former trading centre is still considered the gateway to Scotland – and the EUROPA will head for Great Britain’s northernmost country from here. You will have time to explore EDINBURGH* until late into the evening. From the winding alleys of the medieval Old Town to the splendid boulevards of the Georgian New Town, Scotland’s capital city – listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site twice – is full of exciting contrasts. During the Military Tattoo* music festival, Edinburgh Castle is lit up in the evening, making it a very atmospheric setting for Scottish tradition.

World literature meets pub culture: DUBLIN, the city of Wilde, Joyce, Beckett and so many other great literary figures, is officially a UNESCO City of Literature. Since the EUROPA will stay here overnight, you will be able to enjoy Dublin’s creative atmosphere in depth, and explore two of Ireland’s most pleasant parks: Powerscourt Gardens* and Mount Usher Gardens*. Perhaps you’d like to take in the magnificent library at Trinity College* or visit the Guinness Storehouse* and learn more about the art of brewing beer? With its palm-lined promenade, lively street cafes and yachts bobbing in the harbour, TORQUAY is another town that shows England from its sunny side. Relax in one of the English Riviera’s glorious gardens, marvel at the verdant splendour of the Lost Gardens of Heligan*, and enjoy a view of the impressively illuminated Millennium Bridge in the evening. After a relaxing day at sea and an evening passage through the Kiel Canal, your cruise will come to an end in Kiel, having shown you the highlights of the British Isles.
