Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben

Since 1962, the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, based in Hamburg, has supported exceptionally talented young musicians across Germany up to the age of 30 in their journey toward a professional music career. String players, in particular, are the focus of the foundation’s efforts. With over 260 valuable instruments from the German Musical Instrument Fund – the heart of the foundation – it is able to provide its scholarship recipients with outstanding violins, violas, cellos, and double basses on loan. These instruments, including those by Stradivari, Guarneri, and Guadagnini, are awarded annually through a competition judged by an independent expert panel. Extensive scholarship and sponsorship programs, as well as the facilitation of concert performances at festivals and with renowned orchestras, complement the individual and sustainable support for the most promising musical talent.

Experience the Chamber Music Festival of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben aboard the MS EUROPA: Talented scholarship recipients will enchant you in changing ensembles with their impressive skills. Through intensive rehearsal work, diverse programs are created, which will be performed during exclusive onboard concerts throughout the journey. Enjoy a unique musical experience while the young musicians gain valuable concert experience, and the special atmosphere on board ensures unforgettable moments.

Variety Show

GOP

The people of Hanover simply called it "GOP"—their variety theater in the Georgspalast, where the stars of the day once took the stage: Heinz Erhard, Zarah Leander, Vico Torriani, and Caterina Valente. When the theater reopened in 1992, the abbreviation became a brand name. Its glorious tradition was carried into the here and now of a modern variety theater. Today, the GOP sets new standards in international variety entertainment and has become so successful that it now operates seven theaters across Germany. The family-owned company has produced over 300 shows to date, attracting 15 million audience members to its venues—and it’s also a regular guest on the luxury cruise ship MS Europa. The spectacular shows Premiere and Highlights, created exclusively for the MS Europa, are hosted by moderator and entertainer Martin Quilitz. A former writer for The Harald Schmidt Show, Quilitz also boasts an impressive resume of television and stage appearances, engagements with the German federal government, major corporations, and, of course, Germany’s most renowned variety theaters. A true polymath of smart entertainment, Martin Quilitz leaves no questions unanswered—unless they’re meant to stay that way. The show’s lineup features world-class artistry, including multiple yo-yo world champion Shu Takada from Japan, juggler Jonas Alich, Maria "La Suricata Circus" with her mesmerizing hula hoop performances, Anissa Elakel with handstand acrobatics, and Francois Loooop with a stunning LED act. Get ready for a breathtaking mix of laughter, wonder, and thrills—all in perfect harmony!
