A Michelin-starred chef on board in person
The collaboration between Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and Kevin Fehling stands for innovation and excellence on the high seas. The Hamburg-based three-star chef has found a second culinary home with THE GLOBE. Since 2019, his gourmet restaurant on board the EUROPA has been offering contemporary fine dining that appeals to all the senses and sets new culinary standards. Inspired by his travels around the globe, Kevin Fehling combines flavours and techniques from different cultures in his menus – masterfully combined with creative sophistication and precise culinary artistry.
Reduction with a sense of depth – a journey around the globe
Kevin Fehling began his career as sous chef on the EUROPA. The manifold aromas of the world that he discovered during this time at sea continue to influence his cuisine to the present day. Fehling’s credo – “Magic begins when you say a lot with a little” – describes his philosophy of reduction as well as his desire to bring memories, emotions and travels to life in his culinary creations. Each course is a chapter in a journey around the world, each plate an expression of his personal signature. Thanks to his unmistakable style, this exceptional chef is now one of the most extraordinary personalities in German haute cuisine. In its first year after opening, his Hamburg restaurant THE TABLE was awarded three Michelin stars – an honour that has been confirmed every year since. Five black toques and 19 points from the renowned Gault et Millau restaurant guide further emphasise his culinary standing.
Design meets memories
“With THE GLOBE, I have realised my dream of having my own restaurant on the EUROPA,” says Fehling. And he has created a place that reflects his vision of contemporary top cuisine – with great attention to detail, a well-thought-out design and the chef as host with a personal story. The interior is based on his experiences on board: a black ceiling representing the starry night sky and round lamps reminiscent of the planets. Illustrations by artist Sonja Christoph bring Fehling’s experiences at the beginning of his career on the EUROPA to life – a chapter he describes as the best time of his life.
In addition to THE GLOBE, the 400 guests on board the EUROPA can enjoy four other first-class restaurants offering a wide range of culinary delights – from the elegant Europa Restaurant to the casual Lido Café. Visits to all restaurants are included in the cruise price.
