MGV Walhalla zum Seidlwirt
The international male voice ensemble MGV Walhalla zum Seidlwirt (with members from Turkey, Israel, Austria, and England, among others) was founded by former vocal students of the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. The group gives the traditional “MännerGesangsVerein” (male choral society) a fresh and contemporary upgrade for the 21st century. At its core, the ensemble preserves the essential MGV qualities: the joy of making music together, exuberance, and a sense of closeness with the audience. What’s new is a combination of classical vocal artistry, artistic integrity, and a healthy dose of self-irony. Their repertoire is just as diverse: from classical works and operetta to barbershop tunes, chansons, and folk songs from the singers’ home countries and beyond. The audience is always an integral part of the experience. Today, Walhalla zum Seidlwirt regularly performs on renowned stages both in Germany and abroad, including the Konzerthaus Berlin, Musikverein Vienna, Beethovenfest Bonn, Styriarte Graz, Sziget Festival, and the Grafenegg Festival. Chamber music partners of the ensemble have included Fatma Said, the Wiener Horn Ensemble, and Eric Schneider.
