Experience an exclusive concert format. CURATED CONCERTS focuses on outstanding artists and their individual musical stories. Each voyage combines two concerts on board with a special concert ashore, opening up new perspectives on music, artists and the destinations along the route.

On this voyage, clarinettist David Orlowsky is shaping the musical concept together with his musical partners. With his unmistakable musical language and his unique blend of classical music, the chamber music tradition, and creative openness, he creates a programme that opens up new ways of listening. The musical encounters on this journey invite you to experience the diversity of chamber music from different perspectives – in a personal, accessible way, shaped by the individual artistic style of the participating artists.

It takes just a few notes for the unmistakable character of his sound to become apparent. “With David Orlowsky, the clarinet seems to transform into a human being,” raved the 'Hamburger Abendblatt', praising the lyrical quality of his expressive playing.

Over the course of his 25-year career, he has performed on the world’s most prestigious stages and, as an exclusive artist, has recorded eight albums for Sony Classical and Warner Classics. Four of these have been awarded the ECHO or OPUS Klassik Prize. Whether performing Schubert with Martha Argerich, Brahms with the Danish String Quartet or Mozart with the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, David Orlowsky makes his clarinet sing like almost no one else.

He has also developed his own musical language beyond the realm of classical music. For 21 years, he toured the world with the David Orlowsky Trio, exploring the boundaries between classical music and klezmer. The trio thrilled their audiences – whether at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam or Carnegie Hall in New York.

Following a celebrated farewell tour in 2019, the time was ripe for a new chapter filled with chamber music, new compositions and new projects. In his award-winning project with lutenist David Bergmüller, he delves into the world of Henry Purcell and John Dowland. Their joint album ‘Alter Ego’ was released by Warner Classics in spring 2022. In 2023, he premiered his clarinet quintet ‘The Clo’ to great acclaim.

Tommy Baldu, a creative sound designer and seasoned live performer, adds rhythmic finesse and sonic variety to the mix. The starting point is their album Petrichor, which translates eleven distinct scents into music – from wet earth to sunscreen. But the journey continues on stage: improvisations, new compositions, and unexpected twists turn each concert into a multi-sensory experience. This music tells stories, evokes memories, and creates moments beyond words – intense, poetic, and unforgettable.
