Sima Mashazi is a South African singer/songwriter, who performs in several of the country’s official languages. Her career highlights include performing at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival (2016) with the Ramon Alexander Quartet and singing backing vocals for Strawbs album, The Magic of it All (2023). She played the lead role in Mama Africa – The Musical (2016-2017). This led to her production, My Miriam Makeba Story, (2018) which was nominated at the Woordfees awards (2018) and Aardklop festival (2019). In 2019, the show received a Kanna award for Best Music Production at the Klein Karoo Kunstefees. She released the single, “Bashadile” (2017) and co-wrote and recorded with various South African artists in the Vibrancy Collective (2018 - 2020), including the songs Be glorified and Ngizokuphumza (2019) as well as How Long (2020). From 2021 she formed part of both, award nominated, “Afrika Blues” and “Anders/Eenders”. In 2024 her duo production, This is Home, debuted at the Suidoosterfees in Cape Town.
