    The highlights of this cruise

What wonders did the ice age leave behind around the Gulf of Bothnia? How do the Sami live today? Where can you enjoy the Scandinavian lifestyle at its most authentic? The HANSEATIC nature will give you the answers with the wealth of experience of the experts on board, who will provide a journey of knowledge with their presentations. The many open decks offer you the best views: during the daytime passage through the Kiel Canal and then in the Stockholm Archipelago. Explore Stockholm without the hustle and bustle of the high season. Afterwards, it’s northbound. On board, the spirit of adventure hangs in the clear air as you cruise off the Bothnian Sea and Bothnian Bay, depending on the weather and ice conditions. Lulea is your gateway to Swedish Lapland. Here, the days are full of outdoor winter activities – whether on a dog sled ride*, a fat bike ride* or winter hiking*. Get to know the culture and traditions of the Sami*, too. With a bit of luck, you will be able to see the Northern Lights in clear weather – on deck, you have the best spots for this. Not far from the Arctic Circle, you can explore the Nordic nature around Kemi in Finland on a snowmobile safari*, a snowshoe hike* or ice fishing*. You can deepen your insights into northern life in Rovaniemi* in the Arktikum museum. Oulu is also a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Your flexible expedition day in Bothnian Bay and the Bothnian Sea is followed by the art of bobbin lace and picturesque wooden houses in Rauma. At this time of year, you are almost among yourselves here, as well as in Copenhagen, whose winter charm will warm your explorer’s heart – as will the entire cruise.

The itinerary depends on weather and ice conditions. The natural experiences and Northern Lights sightings described are possibilities on this cruise and are not guaranteed.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Your ship - HANSEATIC nature

    The new expedition class

The naming ceremony of the HANSEATIC nature took place in Hamburg on 4 May 2019. Together with its structurally identically sister ships HANSEATIC inspiration (2019) and HANSEATIC spirit (2021), the small and state-of-the-art expedition ship explores remote destinations and visits the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes on challenging routes.

The new expedition class – which offers space for a maximum of 230 guests (or 199 guests on Antarctic cruises and Spitsbergen circumnavigations) – sets standards in terms of variety, comfort and personal space. This is why our ship has more open deck space than any other expedition ship. Find out more!
