    The highlights of this cruise

Along wintry coasts, with many outdoor activities in the glistening snow in Swedish and Finnish Lapland and while exploring enchantingly illuminated cities, you will experience unique moments of wonder. In the narrow archipelago and fjord landscapes of Norway, your small expedition ship shows off its strengths to perfection, while you marvel at the mystical Northern Lights from the many open deck areas.

    show complete itinerary

A Norwegian adventure in the depths of winter. Long nights, darkness, magical snow-filled landscapes and Northern Lights sightings from the deck. Only a small ship like the HANSEATIC nature can master Norway’s Inside Passage. After Bergen with the Hanseatic district of Bryggen, new fjords and islands alternate daily – such as that of Alesund, a gem of art nouveau architecture. The legend of the “hole in the rock” comes to life when cruising off Torghatten. Tromso welcomes you with atmospheric lighting at the Arctic Cathedral or a visit to a Sami camp*. After cruising off the North Cape, you will reach the legendary North Cape plateau* by bus, quad bike or snowmobile via Honningsvag. You can enjoy the winter actively in Alta as you ride a dog sled*, go on a snowshoe hike *or set out on a fat bike tour*. The tranquillity of the great outdoors is accompanied by the beating of your explorer’s heart on an expedition day in the Norwegian fjords. Keep an eye out for whales. With just a few hours of daylight, you will experience Svolvaer on the Lofoten Islands as an idyll of houses bathed in romantic light, starry skies and, with luck, the magical Northern Lights. On the Svartisen glacier, the country’s second-largest glacier, you will become one with the landscape on a hike to the tongue of ice. A stroll through the shops and cafes reveals why Trondheim is the home of Nordic delicacies. The finale belongs to nature: the Geirangerfjord, with the “Seven Sisters” or “Suitor” waterfalls, and the Lysefjord* near Stavanger with its peaks of up to 1,000 m (3,281 ft) high, crown your Nordic fairy tale in winter.

The itinerary depends on the weather conditions. The natural experiences and Northern Lights sightings described are possibilities on these cruises and are not guaranteed. The use of on-board Zodiacs is currently not permitted on these cruises. When the ship is at anchor, the ship’s tender boats will be used.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Your ship - HANSEATIC nature

    The new expedition class

The naming ceremony of the HANSEATIC nature took place in Hamburg on 4 May 2019. Together with its structurally identically sister ships HANSEATIC inspiration (2019) and HANSEATIC spirit (2021), the small and state-of-the-art expedition ship explores remote destinations and visits the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes on challenging routes.

The new expedition class – which offers space for a maximum of 230 guests (or 199 guests on Antarctic cruises and Spitsbergen circumnavigations) – sets standards in terms of variety, comfort and personal space. This is why our ship has more open deck space than any other expedition ship. Find out more!

    Bergen/Norway, 10.00 – 18.00 hrs
Beginning of the Inside Passage through the fjords and islands of Norway (from Bergen to Stavanger)

A Norwegian adventure in the depths of winter. Long nights, darkness, magical snow-filled landscapes and Northern Lights sightings from the deck. Only a small ship like the HANSEATIC nature can master Norway’s Inside Passage. The first stop, Bergen, welcomes you with a typical “Hei”. Set against a remarkable mountain backdrop, take a gentle stroll through the Hanseatic quarter of Bryggen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to see its colourful houses and narrow streets. It is clear why the city is known as the “gateway to the fjords” when Norway’s Inside Passage begins there and the landscape becomes more and more spectacular.

    Thursday, 08.01.2026

    Alesund, 9.00 – 13.00 hrs

Famous for its art nouveau architecture, Alesund is spread over multiple islands. Stroll through the snowed-in lanes at your own pace and enjoy the winter flair. A hike on Mount Aksla* offers stunning views of the fjord.

    Friday, 09.01.2026

Cruising off the “mountain with the hole” Torghatten

The legend that the rocks are petrified trolls comes to life as you cruise off Torghatten: the hole in the mountain is said to have been made by the troll king’s hat. Your team of experts on board will explain the actual story behind the special geological shape.

    Saturday, 10.01.2026

    Tromso, 12.30 – 19.00 hrs

Feed the explorer in you in Tromso with stories of historical expeditions that set out from there, the gateway to the Arctic Ocean. Inspired by the ice floes, the Arctic Cathedral* is a prime example of how strong an influence the Arctic has on the city’s architecture. Experience culture and traditions up close on a visit to a Sami camp*, rounded off with a reindeer sleigh ride.

    Sunday, 11.01.2026

    Cruising off the North Cape
    Honningsvag, 11.00 – 21.00 hrs

After cruising off the North Cape, the maritime centre of the region awaits you. Honningsvag offers a picturesque contrast between colourful houses and rugged landscape. A particular highlight is the ambience at the North Cape plateau*, the most northerly point on the European mainland. The term winter sports will take on a whole new meaning – on a snowshoe hike with ice fishing*.

    Monday, 12.01.2026

    Alta, 9.00 – 22.00 hrs

It’s not only in the region around Alta, where the first Northern Lights observatory was built in the 19th century, that you can see the aurora borealis on a clear night. Throughout your cruise, the ship’s deck will be the best observation platform when the weather conditions are right. Experience the winter in an active way as you ride a dog sled*, take a winter hike* or set out on a fat bike tour*.

    Tuesday, 13.01.2026

Expedition day in the Norwegian fjords

Today will be entirely devoted to exploring, with the HANSEATIC nature cruising nimbly through the Norwegian fjords. The time of the cruise is ideal for spotting orcas, humpback whales and perhaps even some fin whales, which are now spending time in the fjords. Be captivated by the changing series of fantastic views of the landscape – from the nature Walk or the many open deck areas, for instance.

    Wednesday, 14.01.2026

    Svolvaer/Lofoten Islands, 9.00 – 23.00 hrs

Wondrous skerry landscape, stockfish archipelago or expeditionary territory – however you choose to describe the Lofoten Islands, they form a contrast of dramatic landscapes and idyllic fishing villages. With just a few hours of daylight, you will experience the main town of Svolvaer as an idyll of houses bathed in romantic light, starry skies and, with luck, the magical Northern Lights.

    Thursday, 15.01.2026

    Svartisen glacier, 8.30 – 14.00 hrs

With 370 km2 (143 mi.2), the Svartisen glacier is the second-largest glacier in Norway – a true work of art created by nature. Enjoy the unique scenery with glacial lake and mountains as well as the clear winter air. You will also have the opportunity to hike to the tongue of ice.

    Friday, 16.01.2026

    Trondheim, 12.00 – 18.00 hrs

Hungry for adventure or thirsty for knowledge? Trondheim sates both. On a guided walk* through the old town, you will discover charming wooden houses, small shops and cosy cafes. Saturday, 17.01.2026

    Cruising in the Geirangerfjord

Your small expedition ship will also take you to the snowy Geirangerfjord as it hugs the coastline. What stories could the waterfalls tell, with names like “Seven Sisters” and “Suitor”?

    Sunday, 18.01.2026

    Stavanger, 13.00 – 19.00 hrs

Near Stavanger, the Lysefjord* with its peaks of up to 1,000 m (3,281 ft) high makes for an unforgettable final impression on Norway’s Inside Passage – and numerous breathtaking moments of a Nordic fairy tale in winter will be in your luggage.
