Fishguard is a charming town on the Welsh coast. Explore it at your leisure. The so-called Lower Town, directly at the harbour, is particularly worth seeing with its colourful fishermen’s houses lined up closely together. A large tapestry in the town hall depicts the heroic battle against the French Revolutionary Army in 1797. The small town is also your starting point for a journey back in time to Pembroke Castle and Tenby*. The 12th-century castle is considered the most beautiful in the region. Some 45 km (28 mi.) off the British mainland, the Isles of Scilly are surprisingly like a kind of “English South Seas”. One day, two islands: on Tresco, over 4,000 subtropical plants in the famous Abbey Garden demonstrate the effects of the mild Gulf Stream.
