Islas Cies/Spain
A natural masterpiece awaits you off the Iberian Peninsula: if the authorities give the green light for us to explore the Islas Cies, we’ll set sail in our Zodiacs today and take you to these rarely visited islands with their pine forests, vast beaches and impressive cliffs. Keep an eye out for marine mammals here, too. The waters off Galicia are particularly rich in nutrients, attracting whales and dolphins.

Isles of Scilly/Great Britain
Some 45 km (28 mi.) off the British mainland, the Isles of Scilly are surprisingly like a kind of “English South Seas”, complete with white sandy beaches and exotic vegetation. In the famous Abbey Garden on Tresco, over 4,000 plants are proof of the effects of the mild Gulf Stream. The neighbouring island of St Mary’s, whose picturesque coastal landscape is perfect for walking, beckons with natural beauty.
Fowey, from 8.00 to 17.00 hrs
The town of Fowey on England’s sun-kissed south coast has a Mediterranean feel, beautiful scenery and a mild climate, making it the ideal place from which to explore the highlights of Cornwall*. The sea rages against the rocks and the fishing villages are filled with romance, just like the novels of Rosamunde Pilcher, whose birthplace you will visit. Alternatively, pay a visit to one of the country’s most beloved gardens: the historic Lost Gardens of Heligan*.
Isle of Portland, from 8.00 to 18.00 hrs
Located in the English Channel, the Isle of Portland is the starting point for historical highlights from various eras. A hike along the Jurassic Coast* will turn back time by around 200 million years and provide insights into the age of the dinosaurs. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this area feels like a land before time. But the steep cliffs aren’t just known for their fossils – they also offer spectacular views of the striking Durdle Door rock formation. Meanwhile, the world-famous, prehistoric Stonehenge and Salisbury* were created by human hands. The stone altar of concentric circles has a mystical feel and is the setting of numerous legends and sagas. In Salisbury, you will find yourself wondering what stories the walls could tell in the medieval city and the 13th-century Salisbury Cathedral. The circular Lulworth Cove, an alternative stop on your scenic tour through Dorset*, seems almost too flawless to have evolved naturally. Special sea currents and the coast’s geological features created this perfectly formed bay.
Isle of Wight, from 6.00 to 15.00 hrs
The Isle of Wight off the south coast of England is known for having even inspired Charles Dickens. Beaches, cliffs and castles make a delightful trio for an island hike*. You’ll be in aristocratic company at the royal Osborne House*, Queen Victoria’s summer residence. You’ll leave the islands’ many facets behind as you chart a course for Hamburg, but the memories of all that you’ve experienced will stay with you forever.
