A magnificent, beautifully maintained 18-hole parkland course awaits your visit today. The wide, highly playable fairways lead with clear visibility to the final greens, which are guarded by just a few bunkers. The attractive course is not really for long hitters, however, since it offers a total length of 5,385 m (5,890 yards) for men and 4,599 m (5,030 yards) for women. Here you will need to concentrate more on directing your shots.
Wed 16 Oct, Terceira – Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira
This 18-hole course is set in the highlands of the Azores in an agricultural region. The rather narrow fairways almost always end in small, compact greens. This means that players will need to concentrate mainly on their management of space. Straight shots get you there faster.
Thu 17 Oct, Sao Miguel – Campo de Golfe das Furnas
This course is also set high up in the island’s hills. Unlike the Clube de Golfe da Ilha Terceira, however, there are some expansive playing areas here, which will really help your game. Time and time again, spectacular views over the surrounding countryside will be potential for distraction. So you will need to keep your eye on the ball and concentrate.
Sat 19 Oct, Funchal (Madeira) – Palheiro Golf Club
With a backdrop of the mountains of Madeira on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other, this is one of the finest championship courses. The par 72 course challenges players thanks to its natural features alone, as there are some fairly sizeable height differences to contend with. The high points also offer a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside.
Mon 21 Oct, Cadiz – Montenmedio Golf & Country Club
Pines, palm trees and putting lines: one of the most naturally scenic golf courses in Spain awaits your visit. Set in the highlands of Cadiz, the wide fairways are lined with beautiful mature trees, which demand a lot of precision from players during their round. The tricky greens with their treacherous bunkers add to the challenge. You will be rewarded for your efforts by stunning views of the typical white villages of the area, such as Vejer de la Frontera, Benalup and Medina. Severiano Ballesteros once said of this course, “Montenmedio is one of those golf courses that no golfer should miss!”
Olaf Schäfer has been a fully qualified golf professional of the PGA of Germany since 1999. After professional roles at golf courses in northern Germany, he discovered the world of cruises and started working with Golf & Cruise in 2008. He has the highest grade from the PGA of Germany (G1) and successfully completed his training to become a PGA Health Professional in 2018. From then on, he has devoted particular attention to golf and well-being and uses his expert knowledge to answer any questions on these topics. On board and ashore, his golf instruction combines analytical skills with passion and individuality.
