Your first destination: Bonifacio on Corsica. One way of making the most of this idyllic town is on a walking tour*, taking a little train up to the higher part of town. From the Esplanade Saint Francois you will get a great view of the town’s cliffs and the Saint Dominique church with its octagonal bell tower, one of the few Gothic buildings on the island. Take a boat trip* to discover hidden caves, which have been carved out of the craggy limestone cliffs by the waves. Or take a scenic journey to the Col de Bavella* to discover the fabulous mountain scenery of Corsica.
Cagliari/Sardinia/Italy, 7.00 – 18.00 hrs
Cagliari on the island of Sardinia also promises a varied experience, with a historic centre featuring sights such as the Elephant Tower and plenty of shops and cafes as well as some fine sandy beaches. A particularly enjoyable part of the city tour* is a wander around Italy’s largest fish market, the Mercato di San Benedetto, with its many different kinds of seafood. You can also venture out into the surrounding area to visit Dolianova and Serdiana*. Leaving this former diocese, the journey takes you through idyllic hilly countryside to a family-run vineyard, where you can enjoy a wine tasting.
FAMILY EXCURSION: A large island seen in miniature: at the Sardegna in miniatura* theme park, we will see detailed reproductions of Sardinia’s beautiful buildings. We then start our boat trip around the mini version of the island.

On the third day of the cruise, you will approach a true pearl of the Mediterranean: Capri. To start, the EUROPA 2 cruises around the island. From the veranda of your suite, you can enjoy the views of the spectacular cliffs before exploring Capri on an individual shore excursion – visiting dreamy beaches, seeing the play of colours at the Blue grotto or enjoying an espresso on the promenade.

Discover this UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site on a scenic tour*. The archaeological museum* provides some enlightening insights into the cultural history of the islands. In the afternoon, the EUROPA 2 takes you to Lipari’s neighbouring island, Vulcano, which truly lives up to its name. Steam rises out of fumaroles and you can take a thermal bath in the hot mud baths before heading off to Sicily and Mount Etna.
TEEN EXCURSION: On Lipari, a motor boat trip marks the exciting start to a snorkelling adventure by the volcano*. You will discover various caves and an underwater tunnel, which is home to countless fish.
Naxos (Taormina)/Sicily/Italy , 7.00 – 18.00 hrs
From Naxos, you will reach Taormina, which is situated on a plateau in the cliffs above the Ionian Sea. The town is an attractive place for sightseeing and shopping, and you can discover the ancient buildings and little boutiques and craft shops on a walking tour*. Immerse yourself in the lively goings-on in the streets of Taormina on one of Italy’s biggest holidays – Ferragosto (the Assumption of the Virgin Mary) – and enjoy the spectacular views of Mount Etna. Or take a trip by all-terrain vehicle* to the slopes of the volcano in the Valle del Bove, where lava flows have created a bizarre landscape.
CHILDREN’S EXCURSION: Fancy a bit of cool refreshment? The beach at Giardini-Naxos* is one of the longest in the area surrounding Taormina and it is perfect for plenty of fun in the sea.
