closeFour in New Zealand and one in Tasmania (Down Under). That’s the plan for this golf cruise in the Tasman Sea. Each course is a special highlight for golfers, since all the course designs make the wonderful natural scenery of the region a focal point of the layout. This means that each excursion on this tour is a fascinating and exciting experience, and not just for golf fans.
Wed 20.12.2023 Mount Maunganui (Tauranga), New Zealand – Mount Maunganui Golf Club
The strictly rectangular layout of this 18-hole course makes for an unusual sight as the fairways are set out in an uncharacteristic parallel structure in a neat square. All the same, the individual, extremely wide fairways offer plenty of room for you to return to the club house with a good score. Your concentration may, however, be affected by the amazing views of the Pacific.
Fri 22.12.2023 Napier, New Zealand – Cape Kidnappers Golf Course
Spectacular is just one of many words that could be used to describe the scenery at this course. At Cape Kidnappers Golf Club, so many other words could also be used to describe the stunning surroundings, which means you will need a great deal of concentration to focus on your game. That’s because the 18-hole adventure is situated right on the cliffs of the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island. The layout of the course follows the natural features of the landscape, with breathtaking results and many fairways along the cliff edge. So you may need a few extra balls and you will definitely want to take a selfie or two.
Thu 28.12.2023 Lyttelton (Christchurch), New Zealand – Clearwater Golf Club
Eleven of the 18 fairways have water along their sides. So you need to be sure you’re not afraid of water. Players who can focus on the essentials will quickly find their way to the extremely fast plateau greens. The tee boxes are raised, providing a clear view of play from the start.
Sat 30.12.2023 Port Chalmers, New Zealand – The Otago Golf Club
A striking parkland course featuring some very narrow fairways. A serious drive is required right from the tee boxes. The 14th hole will prove particularly memorable, as the fairway with its 45-degree dog-leg requires a drive of at least 220 metres (241 yd). This is the only way of achieving the ideal line for obtaining the best score for your handicap on the 404-metre (442 yr) length. – A piece of hard work for golfers, but one that never loses sight of the fun.
Thu 04.01.2024 Hobart (Tasmania), Australia – Royal Hobart Golf Club
The history of this course stretches back to 1916. It has had to move several times since then and did not reach its current location at Seven Mile Beach until 1956. The Royal Hobart title was conferred on the club in 1925. More recently, the 18 holes were brought up to date in 1997. But before you make it to the large, fast greens, there are a formidable 80 strategically placed bunkers waiting on the broad fairways. All in all, a perfect fusion of bushland with a steady stream of views of the Indian Ocean.
