    The highlights of this cruise

Leave HAMBURG behind and set out across the North Sea to the Scottish coast and Leith, the harbour at EDINBURGH*. A stroll along the historic Royal Mile will take you from Holyrood Palace, the Queen’s official residence, to Edinburgh Castle. The EUROPA will stay overnight in the Scottish capital for a particular highlight: the Military Tattoo* takes place every year against the illuminated backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. Attend Scotland’s largest music festival and watch the musicians and dancers marching in traditional kilts. Scotland’s wildly romantic nature awaits in the Outer Hebrides. Far from the British mainland, the stone circles of Callanish* on the ISLE OF LEWIS tell of over 5,000 years of settlement history. The Highlands* are also the setting of legends. Pay them a visit from the harbour at ULLAPOOL. Surrounded by high plains, rugged mountains and lonely moors, the ruined tower of Urquhart Castle sits high above Loch Ness*. Maybe you’ll see something legendary in the glassy lake? The green slopes and bizarre rocky peaks of the ISLE OF SKYE are one of Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes – see for yourself on a scenic tour* of the “misty isle”. Ireland welcomes you in BELFAST. Northern Ireland’s capital is full of possibilities: a walk through the Victorian botanical gardens, or a visit to St George’s Market, where hundreds of traders sell food and products every Sunday? Whiskey lovers can visit the renowned Old Bushmills Distillery* to try the exquisite liquor produced by one of the world’s oldest distilleries. Another highlight was added to the city in 2012: behind the futuristic facade of Belfast’s Titanic Museum lies a vivid depiction of the RMS Titanic’s story.

In DUBLIN, modern life plays out against a historic backdrop: in the Temple Bar district, celebration has been the order of the day since the 18th century. In the daytime, the city’s creatives walk the medieval cobblestones and meet in the galleries and cafes. Garden art is just as much a part of Ireland’s culture as music: in mild winters, around 5,000 plant species grow in the fertile soil of Mount Usher Gardens*. The River Mersey brought prosperity to LIVERPOOL in the 18th century when it became a key port for the empire – today it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Beatles* are inextricably linked with their home city. Walk in the footsteps of the moptops from Penny Lane to the Cavern Club. Liverpudlians are equally proud of their football team. A visit to the FC Liverpool stadium* will prove an unforgettable experience, and not just for football fans. The next day, spend a relaxing afternoon in the Welsh coastal town of FISHGUARD. From here, you can take excursions* into the county of Pembrokeshire. FOWEY on the sun-kissed Cornwall coast is equally charming. Stroll through the antique shops and retire to a cafe for tea. Alternatively, pay a visit to one of the country’s most beloved gardens: the historic Lost Gardens of Heligan* were left untouched for almost four decades and enchant visitors with moss-covered sculptures, lakes and even a little jungle. TORQUAY is situated on the “English Riviera”. With palm trees lining the inviting promenade and countless bars and shops, the marina is the perfect place to spend a final British summer’s day. After a day at sea, your cruise ends in HAMBURG.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Golf cruise

Tue 16.08.2022 Leith – Royal Burgees Golf Club
A round of golf on one of the world’s oldest courses should be an experience in itself. Clubs have been swung on this course since 1735. A hint of tradition remains in every single blade of grass. A natural course with healthy proportions that challenges its guests, but not too much.

Sun 21.08.2022 Belfast – Royal Belfast Golf Club – additional course
Ireland’s oldest golf club was founded in 1881 and made a royal golf course in 1885 by King Edward VII. Originally a six-hole course, it quickly evolved to nine holes before becoming a “true” 18-hole parkland course. The fairways may have a modern design today, but can’t deny their royal roots. This becomes particularly clear when you enter the historic clubhouse after your game.

Mon 22.08.2022 Dublin – The Island Golf Club
Play on one of Ireland’s best championship links courses. The breathtaking dune landscape on the peninsula north of Dublin is a highlight for the sport. In places, the interesting design positively snakes through the dunes, the classic fairways flanked by the dunes left and right. The fairways demand careful play – very pronounced undulations will affect your game in places. And if that weren’t enough, unpleasant pot bunkers appear before the greens as you approach your destination.

Tue 23.08.2022 Liverpool – Formby Hall – Old Course
From the offer of typical English golf courses, a special specimen is waiting here. The par 72, 18-hole course is a mixture of links and parkland course with clear lines, which is peppered with numerous pot bunkers. These sand hazards, so distinctive, are strategically placed in the fairways, so they have a certain magical effect on the game. With this in mind, you should definitely use the warm-up time before the round to familiarize yourself with the challenges of a bunker landing.

Thu 25.08.2022 Fowey – St. Mellion International Resort – Kernow Course
The Kernow Course is one of Cornwalls’ must-play courses. Its unique routing makes every fairway a particular challenge – especially given the terraces that recur throughout this parkland course. Players should therefore be as familiar as possible with slopes, or quickly practise before the game. If you are, then there’s nothing to stop you enjoying this excellent golf course.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

    • In order to guarantee a comfortable flow of play for all golfers, we have determined a basic speed, which is sufficient for a playing time of 4.5 to 5 hours on foot (covering 18 holes with a trolley).
    • Due to tournaments, renovations, etc. at the various golf clubs, our Golf & Cruise programme is subject to change at short notice.
    • Golf & Cruise voyages allow all players with a handicap of 36 or less to play on courses all over the world.
    • Additional courses can only be booked in conjunction with the basic package.
    • The reservation of e-carts cannot always be guaranteed due to local availability and weather conditions. You may, therefore, have to play and walk just with trolleys - possibly even on hilly courses. Please consider this when planning/booking your Golf & Cruise package.
    • Halfway refreshments are always ordered via the respective golf club; we have no influence on the quality of the snacks. We kindly ask for your understanding.
    • When booking a Golf & Cruise package and flights through Hapag-Lloyd, we will register your golf equipment directly with the airlines – when possible and required. The current baggage regulations of the relevant airline apply. In your travel documents, which you will receive about four weeks prior to departure, you will find relevant information about this. Excess baggage fees for golf equipment are normally to be paid at check-in.
    • Minimum number of participants for basic packages: 12 persons.
    • Minimum number of participants for additional courses: 10 persons.
    • If the minimum number of participants is not reached, cancellation will occur no later than eight weeks prior to cruise departure.
    • Rental clubs for right-handed and left-handed players are available on board, subject to a surcharge.
