    The highlights of this cruise

Begin your cruise in MELBOURNE with shopping, sightseeing or walks on the beach. In the evening, the EUROPA sets sail for TASMANIA. Cradle Mountain National Park* is a haven of unspoilt wilderness. Take a flight* over wooded mountains, lakes and meadows, home to rare creatures such as the Tasmanian devil. Learn more about the island’s history as a penal colony in PORT ARTHUR. The now ruined penal city was originally constructed by forced labourers. Waterfalls, rainforests and steep rock faces create the backdrop when the EUROPA slowly makes its way through the winding waterways of NEW ZEALAND’S SOUNDS. Enjoy the magnificent view of the fjords from the deck. The east coast of New Zealand opens the gateway to mountain worlds: at historic Dunedin station, start your journey on the Taieri Gorge Railway* over bridges and along gorges. More thrills await in the snow-covered mountains behind TIMARU: how about a RIB boat ride on the glacier lake*? More leisurely, but equally spectacular views await on the TranzAlpine Express* from Christchurch through the Canterbury Plains and up to Arthur’s Pass.

PICTON is located in the Marlborough Sounds at the edge of the South Island. A natural wonder seemingly created for hikes on the Queen Charlotte Track*. The golden sandy beaches and rainforests of Abel Tasman National Park* are unforgettable from every perspective. Start your kayak trip* in KAITERITERI and rejoin the ship in NELSON. New Zealand’s cities are also worth a visit: get to know WELLINGTON, the Kiwis’ charming capital, and learn more about Maori culture in the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. The country has also made a name for itself among wine connoisseurs. Visit the vineyards of Hawke’s Bay* in NAPIER, the art deco city, and see for yourself. Lord of the Rings has made it an essential part of any trip to New Zealand: at MOUNT MAUNGANUI, follow in the footsteps of the Hobbits* through the green hills to the film’s famous location. Leave The Shire and arrive in AUCKLAND the next morning, where we will bid you farewell.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Golf cruise

Mon 14.02.2022 Melbourne – Woodlands Golf & Country Club – additional course
Not far from the famous St Kilda Beach, two outstanding city golf courses offer very spacious fairways. Each one is a challenge – both the Masters Course and Signature Course offer an interesting but manageable game for players of all levels. The two courses do have one thing in common – water hazards cross or run along almost every fairway.

Thu 17.02.2022 Hobart – Royal Hobart Golf Club
Golf was first played here in 1896. As so often, it was the British who brought the sport all the way to Australia. The course was completely modernised in 1997. Today, players can expect broad fairways and large, fast greens with more than 80 strategically placed bunkers. This is the course where Jack Nicklaus won the Australian Open in 1971. Players are constantly exposed to bushland and views of the Indian Ocean. A course with plenty of motifs and tradition!

Tue 22.02.2022 Port Chalmers – Otago Golf Club
This is a true golfing challenge that often demands a serious drive right from the tee box. This striking parkland course features some very narrow fairways. The 14th fairway is particularly memorable – the back tee box, a 45° dogleg, requires a drive of at least 220 m (722 ft). This is the only way to achieve the perfect line on the 404 m (1,325 ft) long fairway and have a chance of meeting the course’s demands.

Fri 25.02.2022 Lyttelton / (Christchurch) – Christchurch Golf Club
This course will also prove a challenge for ambitious golfers. This is a well-maintained, demanding parkland course. Eleven of the 18 fairways alone are bordered by water. The very fast plateau greens are protected by strategically placed bunkers. So make sure to spend plenty of time analysing each fairway. Course management is particularly important here. The teeing grounds overlooking the fairways provide clear orientation, making you aware of the course of play.

Mon 28.02.2022 Wellington – Royal Wellington Golf Club
Situated in the uplands of the “Windy City”, this city course was opened in 1895 and redesigned in 2013. Its location means games on this 18-hole parkland course can be a real adventure if the wind makes its presence felt. The extremely wide, often rather strongly modulated fairways don’t work in your favour. The round is traditionally opened by a starter who keeps an eye on the players’ legs. Only white golf socks and shoes with soft spikes are permitted on this course; guests should ideally wear white knee socks.

Tue 01.03.2022 Napier – Cape Kidnappers Golf Club
A course with a view! This 18-hole championship course is located on a plateau directly on the east coast of the North Island. The natural landscape has been incorporated into the course design in a unique fashion. The fairways this has created are therefore a particular challenge. Wherever you stand, you will be offered new, spectacular views that will understandably distract you from your game. Tip: take a few extra balls and a camera.
