A fresh breeze blows gently in from the sea as Cochin's fishermen bring in their traditional fishing nets early in the morning. The scents of India's lively markets are intoxicating and almost leave the exotic taste of a freshly-prepared curry in your mouth. Your eyes will be able to feast on glorious temples and palaces - such as the white marble of the Taj Mahal and the golden Shwedagon Pagoda. The lavish abundance of the Indian Ocean will be a treat for all of your senses.

Cochin is one of the oldest settlements to be established by Europeans and is regarded as one of the most important historic ports in the world, the centre of the worldwide trade in spices. The fishing nets at Fort Kochi are worth a visit: lined up along the shore, their lifting beams still sway above the water and the nets continue to bring in catches of fish. The township of Mattancherri is also a worthwhile destination with sights including the Dutch Palace and the Pardesi Synagogue. From Cochin, overland excursions will take you to the famous Taj Mahal mausoleum and to Delhi. Delhi consists of two parts: Old Delhi with all the atmosphere of the Orient, and New Delhi, planned and constructed by the British and the capital of the country. Of special interest in Old Delhi are the Jama Masjid Mosque and the Red Fort.
