The suites and the social rooms are air-conditioned with 100 % fresh air. You can set the temperature in your suite individually. The air conditioning cannot be switched off.
All suites are fitted with two permanently adjoined beds. In addition, the sofa can be used as a bed by a third person. The lying surface varies from approx. 70 x 240 cm/27.6 x 94.5 ft (Owner Suites) to 70 x 205 cm/27.6 x 80.7 ft (Grand Ocean Suites), 70 x 190 cm/27.6 x 74.8 ft (usable up to a max. age of 15 years; in Penthouse and Grand Penthouse Suites) and 70 x 175 cm/27.6 x 68.9 ft (usable up to a max. age of 12 years, in Veranda Suites) to an area of approx. 70 x 160 cm/27.6 x 63 ft (usable up to a max. age of 10 years, in suites suitable for the disabled) and approx. 70 x 140 cm/27.6 x 55.1 ft (usable up to a max. age of 6 years, in Ocean Suites). Family Apartments are not furnished with a sofa.
The boutique sells an extensive range of international fashion. Besides perfumery and personal hygiene products for your personal use you will also find gift items and souvenirs on sale here. Please note that customs regulations in many countries prohibit the opening of the boutique in ports.
Due to its outstanding significance as the control centre for all nautical and technical processes, the bridge is a very sensitive area. For this reason it is not open to the public in accordance with the international regulations. However, we would be pleased to give you the opportunity to visit the bridge unless barred by nautical interests or the local regulations of the littoral countries concerned.
A butler service is available to guests of the Owner’s Suites, the Grand Penthouse Suites and the Penthouse Suites. Amongst other things, your butler will attend to unpacking and packing your luggage, serve meals and drinks in your suite, take on the ironing of your clothes and provide many other services.
For children from the age of 2, there are qualified childcare specialists on board who organise both special children’s events on board as well as children’s and teens’ excursions. The supervision times for children from 4 years and up are usually from 9.00 to 17.00 and 18.30 to 22.00 hrs. The supervision times for teens from 11 years and up are usually from 9.00 to 17.00 and 18.30 to 21.00 hrs. During this time game, sports and creative programmes will be offered. Special rooms are available in the Kids’ Club and the Teens’ Club for supervised playing. These rooms are partly accessible outside of the supervision times and their equipment is appropriate for the age group concerned. The childminding service in the Knopf Club for children from 2 to 3 years is available at a fee of € 65 ( US$ 80/£ 50) per day and offered during the following supervision times: 9.00 to 17.00 and, as part of our sleeping supervision, from 18.30 to 22.00 hrs. We recommend that you book in good time as places are limited.
On days at sea we offer childminding as a so-called late-riser service for parents, i.e. children from 2 years and up are collected from the suite and are taken for a communal breakfast in one of the restaurants. In addition, we offer special communal shore excursions for children and teens (subject to a charge). Furthermore, we can also organise a babysitter for you for the evening (subject to availability and at a charge) via our Reception.
We are pleased to fulfil your special wishes with regard to diet and light food. Please inform us at the time of booking about your requirements. For everyone who likes to eat health-consciously we offer a low-calorie 'cuisine legere' daily.
The EUROPA 2 offers suites that are designed to meet the needs of disabled passengers (Suites 811 and 813 on Deck 8). We nevertheless recommend that you travel together with a responsible companion because due to special procedures on board a ship, continuous attendance is not possible. Certain groups of persons can only be accepted if they are accompanied.
Please bring your own wheelchair with standard measurements or any other medical equipment with you if you are dependent upon it. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that certain electrical wheelchairs and guide dogs will be accepted. Please note also that participation in shore excursions and leaving the ship with Zodiacs or tender boats (if the ship is lying at anchor) can prove to be impossible for physically handicapped guests. For this reason, please clarify with us immediately upon booking as to whether we can fulfil your individual requirements so that you can spend a relaxing voyage without any difficulties.
On the EUROPA 2 there is no fixed dress code. However, during the evening we would
recommend you wear smart casual clothing in the restaurants Weltmeere, Tarragon,
Grande Reserve, Elements and Serenissima: for gentlemen a jacket or a summer suit is
appropriate - a tie is not compulsory.
Your personal e-mail account is available to you during your voyage on the EUROPA 2 via Media4Cruises. You can receive, send and forward e-mails. This service is available
to you free of charge. To open or send attachments, you will need to use webmail (subject to a charge).
All electrical devices in your suite run on 230 V alternating current. A voltage converter that will allow you to use devices rated for 110 V on the European alternating-current network, as well as adapters for German and standard foreign plugs, are available at Reception.
Embarkation cannot commence until approximately two hours before setting sail –
generally from 16.00 hrs – as the suites need to be prepared first (at all German cruise
departure points, the of ficial embarkation time ends at 18.00 hrs). For security reasons, a photograph is taken of every guest upon embarkation. Disembarkation generally takes
place between 8.00 and 10.00 hrs.
On Deck 8, there are seven Family Apartments altogether that each consist of two units joined by a connecting door.

Via Media4Cruises you have direct Internet access in your suite. In addition, the whole ship is equipped with Wi-Fi hotspots via which you can access the Internet using a laptop or the tablet PC available in your suite. The use of the Internet is always subject to a charge.
The jeweller’s shop WEMPE on board the EUROPA 2 presents you with precious watches, selected jewellery and flawless diamonds. The professionals here will be glad to provide advice and answer questions.
The EUROPA 2 has a laundry, dry-cleaning and ironing service (subject to charge). In the Owner Suites, Grand Penthouse Suites, Grand Ocean Suites and Penthouse Suites, an ironing service is included in the cruise price.
Everything that the avid reader is looking for is here in our on-board library and can be borrowed at any time free of charge. In addition, four PC workstations with printer are at your disposal. Furthermore every suite is fitted with a tablet PC. Laptops can be hired for use in your suite (subject to availability).
We have chosen a cashless payment system on board the EUROPA 2. We accept travellers' cheques (euros and USD), the German debit cards (EC cards) and the following credit cards: MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and Visa.
Besides the usual features, the TV set in your suite offers a wide-ranging package of services. With Media4Cruises, you can select from a range of films and music in many different styles as well as detailed information about your voyage at all times. In addition, you can access your on-board account or view the day’s menus, send and receive e-mails and much more.
The EUROPA 2 has a modern, well-equipped ship's hospital under the supervision of an experienced doctor. Guests who are being treated for any medical condition should please contact the ship's doctor immediately after embarkation. It is important to bring any medicines required on board with you in sufficient quantities in your hand luggage. Treatment required as a result of any accident caused by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises or one of its employees on board or during one of the shore excursions organised by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is free of charge. We offer thrombosis prevention medication to guests on board at cost price. A fee is charged for medical treatment in accordance with the valid German medical fee schedule GOÄ. The costs of the treatment will be invoiced to you separately for settlement with your health insurance. Treatment for sea sickness is subject to a charge if you make use of our medical services. On selected voyages, a dialysis doctor will also be available upon request.
Non-alcoholic drinks and beer in the mini bars of the suites are included in the cruise price. In the Owner Suites, Grand Penthouse Suites, Penthouse Suites and Grand Ocean Suites, there are also top-quality spirits in store for you free of charge.
The OCEAN SPA offers you a fully comprehensive wellness programme (at a fee) – from beneficial treatments from all over the world via cosmetic treatments with premium-quality substances through to a hairdresser. The use of sauna and steam bath is included. Reservations can only be made on board. At a surcharge, you can book your private Personal SPA either by the hour or by the day which includes a sauna, your own whirlpool, massage beds and comfortable relaxation furnishings.
The on-board languages are German and English.
Every morning you willl receive an excerpt from the newspaper of your choice (The
New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Times/Sunday Times). In addition,
upon request we can offer a wide selection of full issues of international newspapers in
digital print for purchase.
When making your own rail/flight arrangements to and from the cruise departure and arrival points, please take into account the arrival and/or departure times of the ship at the relevant port of disembarkation/embarkation and al low sufficient time for transfers to/from the airport or port. We recommend that you arrive at the pier at least two hours before the ship is due to depart – not,
however, before embarkat ion commences. Disembarkation can take place at the earliest 90 minutes after the ship has docked and permission has been given by local authorities for you to leave the pier.
A photographer accompanies every cruise and takes pictures both on board and ashore in the course of the voyage. Upon request, he/she will also develop your own photos or burn your digital photos to CD (subject to charge). In addition, there is usually a video producer on board who will record your voyage for you on film. Photos and film can be purchased from him/her.
Postcards and letters may be handed in at Reception, and are posted at the next port of call. Your suite account will be debited with the appropriate postage charges.
The low-vibration propulsion system has been developed according to the latest technology and reaches a total output of 15,500 kW.
Every suite has a private safe for keeping your valuables. Further valuables can be deposited in the safe at the Reception.
The ship ID card substitutes for your passport or ID card when boarding or disembarking from the ship (e.g. on the occasion of shore excursions) and is checked by our security system that registers electronically whether you are on board or ashore.
All the restaurants are non-smoking restaurants with the exception of the terrace of our Yacht Club Restaurant, where smoking and non-smoking tables are clearly labelled. The theatre, the Belvedere, the Foyer and the Jazzclub, as well as the entire SPA area are also non-smoking areas. Smoking is permitted on the outer terrace of the Sansibar, while the indoor area of the Sansibar is a non-smoking zone. Cigars, cigarillos and pipes may only be smoked in the Herrenzimmer (also during the day) and in the outside area of the Sansibar. Please note that smoking is not permitted in the suites. Smoking is permitted on the veranda. On the Pool Deck under the magrodome, smoking is only permitted in the immediate vicinity of the Pool Bar. All external decks are smoking zones. Smokers are obliged to exclusively use the ashtrays provided.
When the EUROPA 2 is refuelling, smoking is strictly forbidden on all external decks and verandas due to safety reasons. Please pay attention to the announcements made over the loudspeakers in this case.
The ship is fitted with state-of-the-art Blohm+Voss stabilisers that are extended in heavy swell from the sides and can reduce the rolling movements of the ship in rough seas.
It goes without saying that our suite service is at your disposal 24 hours a day to deliver selected cold and warm dishes as well as drinks from the bar menu to your suite.
Every suite has an optically divided living area (not in Family Apartments and suites for the disabled). In the Owner Suites and Grand Penthouse Suites, the living and sleeping areas are physically separate. All suites have colour TV with Media4Cruises, tablet PC, telephone, mini bar, hairdryer, safe and a walk-in wardrobe (not in Grand Ocean Suites, Ocean Suites, Family Apartments and suites for the disabled). The bathrooms are spacious with washbasin, bathtub (not in Family Apartments, Grand Penthouse Suites and Owner Suites), separate WC (not in Veranda Suites) and separate shower cabin. The Owner Suites and Grand Penthouse Suites also have a guest WC. The Grand Ocean Suites and the Ocean Suites feature a whirlpool tub, the Owner Suites and Grand Penthouse Suites offer a free-standing whirlpool tub. The showers in the Grand Ocean Suites, Owner Suites and Grand Penthouse Suites also serve as a private steam sauna. The suites above the Jazz Club (501-513) and below the Sansibar (762-769) may be subject to a slight noise disturbance as a result of the entertainment programme. Please also take note of the information on "Beds".
On Deck 6, Deck 7 and Deck 8 there are a total of 19 Veranda Suites that can be combined with their neighbouring suite by means of a connecting door should separate bedrooms be preferred. Please also note the remark "Family Apartment with connecting door".
Breakfast and lunch on board the EUROPA 2 are served in an open seating with a free choice of seats. The same applies to dinner in the Restaurant Weltmeere and in the Yacht Club Restaurant. Seating reservation requests for an evening meal in the speciality restaurants (Serenissima, Tarragon incl. Grande Réserve, Elements, Sushi Restaurant Sakura) are accepted on board.
Your ship is fitted with a modern satellite communications system. Provided the connection to the news satellite is available locally, you can place telephone calls to everywhere in the world directly from your suite and send faxes (at a charge). Vice versa, people ashore are also able to call you directly on board. Please note that the mere dialling of a telephone/fax number of the EUROPA 2 is already chargeable to the caller. You can ask your telephone provider for the exact fees for a satellite telephone call/fax on board - Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has no influence on this. The mobile network of the company WMS, a provider of mobile telephone systems on board cruise ships and planes, enables you to also use your personal mobile phone or smartphone at sea in areas in which your mobile phone provider normally cannot guarantee a network connection (service at a charge; prices vary depending on the mobile phone provider).
In all harbours in which the EUROPA 2 lies at anchor, the ship's own tenders or motorised inflatable rubber boats (Zodiacs) are used to take the passengers ashore if possible. In all other harbours, the EUROPA 2 will berth alongside the pier.
Tips are not compulsory on board. The acknowledgement of a particularly good service is at the discretion of every guest.
The travel concierge is pleased to advise you concerning individual shore and flight arrangements, organise your personal programme based on your ideas and preferences and make all the bookings required in this context (for a fee).
