Hapag-Lloyd Cruises to Offer Guests the Best Talent in the Classic Music Field During the Ocean Sun Festival, Aboard MS EUROPA

The highest ranked cruise ship in the world, according to the 2010 Berlitz Guide to Cruising and Cruise Ships, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ MS EUROPA is offering guests a world-class 15-day music festival departing Kiel, Germany on August 24, cruising through Great Britain, and ending in Kiel on September 8, 2010. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ “Ocean Sun Festival” – the only classical music festival on the High Seas - will feature internationally-acclaimed classical music stars performing on board, as well as exclusive concerts at historical sites ashore. Now in its fourth year, the “Ocean Sun Festival” has been compared to the prestigious Festival del Sole in Napa Valley, California and the Tuscan Sun Festival in Italy.

Wonderful manor houses and castles are located in melancholically beautiful landscapes with gently sloping hills and deep lakes: the picturesque nature around Great Britain, home of many legends, has its very own magic for guests to explore. While the classical music concerts are the highlights of this itinerary, guests will also enjoy excursions and stops in the following ports along the musical route: Leith (Edinburgh)/Scotland, Invergordon/Scotland, Kirkwall/Orkney Islands, Gairloch/Scotland, Ayr/Scotland, Dublin/Ireland, Holyhead/Wales, Cobh/Ireland, Tresco/Scilly Islands, Falmouth/England, and Cowes/Isle of Wight. This 15-day itinerary starts at $8,420/ GBP 4.628 per person/based on double occupancy for a suite. There’s a 5% early booking discount for bookings until January 2010.

Among many more, the artists for this cruise include: Classic FM Gramophone Awards 2009 nominee Magdalena Kozena (Mezzosoprano), a quartette of the Munich Philharmonic orchestra, multiple award-winner of German and international contests Ariel Zuckermann (German Flute and conductor) and Gautier Capucon (Cello). The performances for this cruise will be both on board as well as ashore at historical venues. For an added dimension to the musical experience, international music critics will offer lectures along the way. The itinerary will also include expert guest lecturers.
