Gibraltar – The Gateway to Africa
The Upper Rock in Algeciras Bay attracts attention even from a great distance. Follow the traces of Christian and Moorish culture in Gibraltar and see the only free-roaming monkeys in Europe on the gigantic rock. The cable car will take you to the lookout point on top of the Rock where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the strait separating Europe and Africa. Cultural Treasures of Old Andalusia
Cadiz is one of the oldest cities of Europe. Here you will be able to explore a large number of historical monuments. The Plaza San Juan de Dios is the best starting point for your tours of discovery. During your trip to Jerez and Arcos*, you will see the home of sherry and visit the white village in the Sierra de Cádiz. The treasures of the Andalusian capital, however, will be on display during your excursion to Seville*. Christopher Columbus left from La Gomera on his way to explore the world – you, on the other hand, will find the traces of 600 years of history in San Sebastian. Ancient laurel forests and the picturesque Hermigua Valley are the destination of the landscape trip on La Gomera*. The hike through the El Cedro rainforest* is also an experience which will never be forgotten. It will become clear to you on Lanzarote just how architecture, sculpturing and painting openly express the identity of the Canaries. Art and nature blend into a Gesamtkunstwerk on what is undoubtedly the most idiosyncratic of the Canary Islands. Head out from Arrecife to view the dreams become reality of the artist and environmentalist César Manrique.
