Far away from the modern world, exotic animals and mystical cultures have remained untouched on remote Pacific islands. Look into the eyes of the mighty statues on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) or meet the descendants of the famous mutineers from The Bounty. In the jungle on the South Sea island of Moorea, you will encounter some ancient traditions and you can also find special inspiration on board - our activity programmes at sea will ensure plenty of stimulation and motivation.

Robinson Crusoe Island, 7.00 – 14.00 hrs
Robinson Crusoe Island/Chile
This craggy and hilly island is the largest island in the Juan Fernández Archipelago and is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. As you walk along the paths in this peaceful natural paradise, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the rare Juan Fernández hummingbird. These tiny 12cm birds can only be found here on the island and are under protection. Another native is the Juan Fernández goat. Left behind in the 16th century by Spanish sailors as "provisions", these domestic creatures turned wild provided food for the Scottish sailor Alexander Selkirk. He was left on the remote island in 1704 and spent almost four and a half years here in complete isolation. His story inspired the British writer Daniel Defoe to write his novel "Robinson Crusoe".

Hanga Roa, 12.00 hrs arrival
Hanga Roa/Easter Island/Chile
The EUROPA arrives at Rapa Nui, one of the most remote islands in the world, and you will have plenty of time to discover its secrets. Ko te Riku*, the only Moai statue with white coral eyes, welcomes you to this unique part of the island. Many myths and legends surround the enormous stone statues* with prominent noses and long ears, which silently tell stories of a time long ago. When James Cook landed on the island in 1774, hundreds of the statues, weighing up to 250 tons, were destroyed. It was not until the 20th century that restoration work began. Their exact purpose is still not known today - but they make an impressive sight to behold. Discover the fascinating landscape of Easter Island on a walk from Ahu Tahai* to Ahu Akivi and enjoy the same endless view of the Pacific Ocean that the seven Moais at Ahu Akivi* have been gazing at for millennia. Follow the legendary trail as far as Orongo, an ancient ceremonial village of the birdmen*, whose petroglyphs are still shrouded in mystery to this day.

Bounty Bay, 8.00 – 14.00 hrs
Bounty Bay/Pitcairn/Great Britain
The mutineers on the "Bounty" found an ideal hideaway and a new home in the middle of the Pacific in 1790. On Pitcairn Island, the last British overseas territory in the Pacific, most of the inhabitants are descendants of Fletcher Christian and his friends. The only settlement on the island is Adamstown. Pay a visit to the romantic and overgrown grave of the founding father John Adams or go to the small museum to see the "Bounty" bible with its handwritten notes by Captain William Bligh.

French Polynesia, 20.00 hrs arrival
Moorea/Society Islands/French Polynesia
One of the most beautiful islands in the South Pacific holds plenty of promise. James Cook is said to have been captivated by the sight of the heart-shaped island. Today, Cook's Bay is a reminder of the famous explorer who discovered the island. Together with Opunohu Bay, it is one of Tahiti's sister island's most picturesque bays. From the Belvedere viewpoint, which you can get to by jeep*, you can enjoy the wonderful view over the deep blue bays. Snorkelling on a lagoon trip* will take you right up close to the South Pacific paradise. Or set off on a catamaran* for a sailing trip to idyllic bays where you can bathe. The green volcanic slopes of Moorea have their own surprises in store - take an island tour* to pay a visit to the inhabitants of a traditional Tiki village.
Papeete/Tahiti/Society Islands/French Polynesia
The EUROPA arrives in Tahiti, the Island of Love, and you can enjoy your last evening under the Southern Cross – unless you want to stay on a while longer in the South Seas as part of a private travel arrangement*.
