On the next day, you arrive in Split, where you can visit Diocletian’s Palace and the historic city centre. The landmark of Mostar*, the Stari Most bridge, has been restored to its former glory, whilst Trogir and Salona* reveal their mediaeval and Roman pasts. Korcula was named after its black pine forests and the EUROPA 2 cruises into the Bay of Kotor, which extends far inland offering idyllic views of the countryside. Budva* is one of the oldest settlements on the Balkan Peninsula and was restored to its original form following destruction by an earthquake. The cathedral at Otranto is a masterpiece of Apulian architectural artistry and the “Florence of the South”, Lecce*, is a vision of baroque architecture.
