Of course, there is also the unique rock-cut ruined city of Petra, capital of the Nabataeans: a city built for tens of thousands of people, with a market, housing, theatre, temples, tombs, squares and fountains, it was so well hidden it was totally and utterly forgotten for a full millennium!
