Fiji (Ovalau, Fulanga )

Exquisitely colourful and legendary
With the description of Stevenson’s Treasure Island and the portraits of Gauguin in your mind, you will expect Fiji to be the vision of the South Seas. The islands appear on the endless horizon like shimmering green jewels in an azure sea. With the nimble BREMEN and its Zodiacs, you can discover idyllic secret spots, such as the dreamy town of Levuka on Ovalau, which you can explore on a tour with the experts. A pure feeling of exploration awaits you as the BREMEN presses on to seldom-visited destinations. Fulanga is surrounded by a number of tiny islands, rising out of the turquoise water like mushrooms. Walk through the dense vegetation on the limestone coast and along white beaches, or swim in the clear water.

Ile Uvea/Wallis and Futuna

The Wallis and Futuna island group is a real paradise for nature lovers, too. The volcanic island of Ile Uvea in this group was discovered by the British navigator Samuel Wallis in the 18th century and it became a French protectorate in the 19th century. Even the spectacular views from the deck of the BREMEN as it arrives in the lagoon will enchant you with a sea of blues. Dive into the village life or the exotic underwater habitats.

Samoa (Upolu, Savai’i )

Paradisiacal islands with a history
In the 19th century, the colonial powers’ interest in Samoa grew as a result of copra, the raw material from which coconut oil is extracted. Exports were dominated by German traders. You can discover the unknown aspects of the “treasure island” of Upolu in the capital of Apia and at the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum*. In spectacular contrast to this are the volcanic scars on Savai’i*, the largest island in the archipelago and the next destination of the BREMEN in Samoa. Here you can find a history of volcanology set in stone. The eruption of Matavanu in the early 20th century has left behind igneous lava flows and tubes with shooting water. The insights into traditional village life* and the Samoan culture are just as impressive.

Cook Islands (Rarotonga , Atiu , Aitutaki Atoll )

Fertile ground for explorers
The Cook Islands with their white beaches, lush rainforests and overgrown mountains seem to float in the emerald-green water of the Pacific. The verdant island of Rarotonga* is almost too beautiful to be true. The magic of its lagoons and dreamlike beaches is no less enchanting than the secrets of the marae of Arai Te Tonga. On a sightseeing flight over the island* the whole beauty of the island will be visible. You will feel a little like Robinson Crusoe when you land on the remote island of Atiu with the Zodiacs. Take an island tour of Atiu* and find out just how simple life is amongst the corals, churches and coffee plantations. Aitutaki Atoll only measures around 20 km2 – making this South Seas paradise all the greater. In boats, you can travel through the blue lagoon* to discover palm beaches and fantastic snorkelling opportunities. Alternatively, you can bathe and enjoy a beach barbecue – this paradise promises enjoyment for all the senses.

Society Islands (Bora Bora , Raiatea)

Heaven on earth
Even Ferdinand Magellan and James Cook must have marvelled at the Society Islands. Flowery scents float through the air, dense rainforest provides sanctuary to rare animals and colourful fish dart through the coral gardens. The ancestral name of the most famous island translates as “created by the gods”. And justifiably so, as the tour of Bora Bora* will show, with its opalescent lagoon and Mount Otemanu, which at over 700 m in height resembles a finger pointing to the heavens. Underwater, you can marvel at the colourful life on the reef edge on a tour in a glass-bottomed boat*; a sightseeing flight around this island paradise* is just as unforgettable. The beauty of Raiatea, the cradle of Polynesian civilisation, stems from its rocky coasts, steep summits, lush vegetation and dreamlike lagoons. On a canoe trip on the Faaroa river*, you can wonder at the green spirit of the island as you pass hibiscus, bamboo and purau trees. In small boats, you can also reach Raiatea’s neighbouring island Tahaa*, the home of vanilla plantations and black-pearl farming.
