Spitsbergen (incl. Moffen , Liefdefjord , Mushamna , Magdalenefjord , Ny-Alesund , Moellerhafen , Hornsund )

Spitsbergen: unforgettable days in the realm of the polar bear
Enjoy magnificent natural surroundings and a fascinating animal world on “Norway’s cold coast”. With vast glaciers, deep fjords and untouched wilderness, Spitsbergen is a perfect landscape for passionate explorers. Thanks to it having the highest ice class for passenger shops and a crew with years of experience in the polar regions, the BREMEN can give you particularly vivid expedition moments. You can be right at the centre of the experience in the Zodiacs, always returning to explore nature if the weather and ice permit. Polar bears, whales, Arctic foxes and walruses can, with a little luck, be observed extensively in this world of ice and glaciers, for example, off the small island of Moffen, known for its large herds of walruses which gather on the flat shingle beach. In the Liefdefjord you might spot seals on ice floes or polar bears along the coast whilst you marvel at the shimmering blue scarp of the majestic Monaco Glacier. In Mushamna, you can gain insights into life beyond civilisation if the trapper permits you to visit his cabin. In the Magdalenefjord, historic graves attest to interesting tales of exploration. Arriving in Ny-Alesund, one of the northernmost settlements in the world, you will reach an important base from which to conquer the North Pole. However, the northernmost bar in the world can be found in Moellerhafen. Continue your unforgettable days full of experiences, made particularly long by the midnight sun, in Hornsund. Glaciers as high as a house with striking mountain ranges make for an unforgettable panorama.

Iceland: hot and cold contrasts
The impressive natural forces below Iceland manifest themselves in the name of the capital city, Reykjavik, meaning “bay of smoke”. Gain spectacular insights into Gullfoss, Geysir and Thingvellir – the Golden Circle*. Be it the powerful Gullfoss waterfall, the hot gushing water geysers or the historic assembly point of the Icelandic parliament, the largest volcanic island in the world is itself a world of wonders. You can enjoy breathtaking views, even from a flight over the island of fire and ice*, before the BREMEN sets out for Greenland.

Greenland’s east coast (Ammassalik , Skjoldungen Sound )

Greenland: spotting ice and whales
You will experience the feeling of being on a true expedition upon discovering Greenland. The BREMEN can penetrate to the hard-to-reach and seldom-visited east coast, where the unpredictable ice will determine your experience. Exciting and flexible expedition days await you, for example, in the village of Ammassalik: when touring with our experts, you can learn about people’s lives in the middle of the rugged mountainous and fjord-filled landscape. Experience the culture and traditions of the Inuit and visit a historic peat house. With a little luck, you might spot some whales – and not only in the glacier-lined Skjoldungen Sound.

Journey through the Prins Christian Sund (subject to ice conditions)

The passage through the Prins Christian Sund channel is a scenic highlight: turquoise-blue water, majestic glaciers and waterfalls falling from steep and towering crags.

Greenland’s west coast (Paamiut , Maniitsoq , Qeqertarsuaq ,
cruises in Disko Bay, Sisimiut )

Wander through the charming historic centre of Paamiut before reaching the idyllic village of Maniitsoq, whose colourful houses are embedded in the hilly terrain. After landing on Disko Island, pass through a gateway of whale bones and, together with the experts, explore the former whaling settlement of Qeqertarsuaq. Experience a highlight of your expedition in Disko Bay, either on the ship or by travelling with the Zodiacs. It is a unique natural display when countless icebergs in all shapes and sizes from the Jakobshavn Glacier drift through the bay whilst the Arctic sun bathes the bizarre landscape in magical light. These are impressions which will stay with you on your expedition through Sisimiut and when your unforgettable expedition comes to an end in Kangerlussua.
