Madagascar (Nosy Boroha , Nosy Nato , Nosy Be , Nosy Lakandava , Nosy Hara , Mahajanga , Morondava , Toliara )

Madagascar's breathtaking nature
An exotic flora and fauna has developed on Madagascar that does not exist anywhere else in the world in this form. By way of example, more than 12,000 species of plants have been recorded on the fourth largest island in the world that exclusively grow here. Become a discoverer of the immeasurable wealth yourself and experience the abundance of this natural paradise with the BREMEN as she calls at several ports on the west coast of the island for the first time. Your senses will be intoxicated by the diverse babble of animal voices that permeates the jungle and by the unaccustomed scent of the tropical plants. On Nosy Boroha, the aroma of vanilla, cloves, coffee and cocoa will bewitch you. Explore the former pirate island with the experts or enjoy long walks along the beach before you go ashore on Nosy Nato, where you might encounter some of the famous lemurs. Time seems to have stood still on the small island without any car traffic, and you can bathe and snorkel on its white beaches to your heart’s content. Pure exoticism is also promised by your exiting excursions on Nosy Be, a volcanic island on which French sugar barons settled during the colonial era. Besides the magnificent colonial villas, nature is the true treasure of the island - during the hike in the Lokobe Nature Reserve*, you will admire gigantic trees which reach heights of up to 40 m. With a bit of luck, you may catch a glimpse of numerous bird species including the drongo typical of Madagascar in them. Perhaps black lemurs will also cross your path, and you might observe the nocturnal sportive lemur sleeping in a tree. Or you can go on a boat trip to Nosy Komba*, which is known as ”lemur island“. Different species of these graceful prosimians live here in their groups and will stare at you with their big eyes. Marvellous beaches and colourful snorkelling areas await you on the two islands Nosy Lakandava and Nosy Hara. With the Zodiacs, you will explore the most beautiful swimming bays between coral reefs and bizarre basaltic rocks. Just relax in the fine sand, refresh yourself in the clear waters of the Pacific or dive into the iridescent underwater world with its sea fan corals and colourful fish. The devil pulled the baobab out of the earth to then ram it into the ground again upside down, or the baobab hides its head in the sand for shame – there are many legends about the emblem of Madagascar. The strange giant trees can live for more than 1,000 years. You can find a particularly impressive representative of the species in Mahajanga. The city rarely visited by tourists was founded around 1700 by the Arabs and thrived to become a significant centre due to trading with precious spices. Unique natural phenomena will accompany you as you set out from this location on the excursion Cirque Rouge and baobab* - on the ”place of red soil“, laterite formations shimmer in shades ranging from pale pink to purple in the sunlight. You will encounter baobabs once again in Morondava, where the gnarled fingers of the numerous giants reach for the sky in the famous avenue and the lively market invites you for a stroll. Your fantastic days in Madagascar will end with the hustle and bustle in Toliara that is typical of the island.
