Sao Miguel/Azores, departure 22.00 hrs
Central Azores (Pico , Faial, Sao Jorge)
The scenic journey across the crater island of Pico* will give you an impressive picture of rocks and lava fields. Between jagged rocks lies the former whaling location of Lajes, its coat of arms alluding to the long history of whaling on Pico. Here you will find the most-visited whale watching centre in the Azores, which will provide fascinating insights into the lives of these marine mammals. Scientists head to Faial to study these gentle giants. Meanwhile, nature lovers can enjoy the island’s unspoilt natural beauty on a scenic journey to the Capelinhos Volcano* or a hike around the Faial Caldeira*. Be fascinated by the untamed landscape from the 300 m high Sao Jorge plateau. This long stretch of level land was created by volcanos and is the perfect place for a walk.
Western Azores (Flores, Corvo )
Once you have set foot on Flores, the island of flowers, you will travel the paths of this Eden to visit crater lakes and waterfalls*. Here you will also enjoy spectacular views of Corvo. What from this perspective appears to be a mountain will turn out to be a huge crater as your shore excursion continues. The UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is an ideal location for spotting pilot whales and dolphins, which can appear off the coast at any time.
Central Azores (Graciosa, Terceira)
Another jewel in the Atlantic is Graciosa, the “gracious island” – where small villages and volcanoes* shape one of the most tranquil refuges in the archipelago. You will gather further impressions on an island tour* or on a hike to Terceira*, which will take you into the heart of the volcanic landscape.
Relaxation at sea
La Coruna/Spain, 12.00 – 19.00 hrs
Spain’s proud sanctuaries
Unforgettable impressions that will remain when you reach La Coruna on the Spanish coast. A visit to the pilgrimage town of Santiago de Compostela* with its numerous architectural styles and a tour through the old town of Betanzos and a visit to a cheese dairy* will put you in the perfect mood for the cultural diversity to come.

Channel Islands/Great Britain
(Jersey, Sark, Herm, Guernsey, Alderney)
Channel Islands: Europe’s unknown gems
For the first time, the HANSEATIC will try to land on five of the seldom-visited Channel Islands. A kingdom of natural impressions awaits you. For example, the largest island, Jersey, where the mild climate produced by the Gulf Stream allows exotic vegetation to grow. The island tour* will take you past magnificent date palms and huge banana trees. Let yourself be enchanted by the natural diversity, heathland and picturesque bays on a hike on Jersey*. The rocky island of Sark is a little paradise with only around 600 residents. And what more stylish way to experience this idyll than on a carriage ride* to the wonderful lords’ gardens? You will also be impressed by a walk to the La Seigneurie Gardens*, which nestle alongside the majestic 18th-century manor house. With Caribbean-like beaches and palm trees, Herm is a marvellous contrast. Subject to tides and weather conditions, you will take a thrilling Zodiac ride to “The Humps” – an outlying island where a seal colony has settled. Alternatively, you can explore the landscape on a walk in the company of our renowned experts.
The picturesque coasts of Guernsey are wildly romantic and provided inspiration for Renoir. On a hike along the cliffs* or an island tour*, the landscape seems to have been taken straight from his paintings. The rich flora and fauna on Alderney paint unforgettable pictures, too. A boat trip along the coast* will allow you to discover a bird paradise where around 2% of the world’s northern gannets nest.
Honfleur/France, 7.00 – 14.00 hrs
In Honfleur, time seems to have stood still. Art and history merge at the mouth of the Seine. On your tour of Honfleur and Deauville*, you will feel the same inspiration as Monet and Renoir in the beautiful, narrow alleys. Magnificent impressions – in every sense – await you in Rouen, the city of 100 steeples*. And even if your diverse and inspiring expedition on board the HANSEATIC ends here, in the cradle of impressionism, your canvas of memories will never fade.
