Natural Wonders of the Philippines
Your voyages of discovery to the archaic exoticism of the Pacific begin on the island of Bohol. Starting out from Tagbilaran, the excursion Chocolate Hills and trip on the Loboc River* takes you to more than 1,000 hills of almost perfectly conical and virtually identical shape. You will subsequently discover the wild beauty of the lavish Philippine vegetation from close quarters while you glide by the palm tree-lined banks of the Loboc River aboard covered rafts.
Dream Destination Palau
Palau is like a fantasy kingdom from a book of fairy tales where two unforgettable days await you. The unique Rock Islands are among the most beautiful snorkelling regions in the world. The mere sight of the bizarre coral islands that rise out of the turquoise water of the lagoon like mushrooms will create an everlasting impression. Experience the so-called floating gardens during the boat trip Rock Islands with snorkelling*. Fascinating insights into the culture can be gained in Koror. In the town with museum and aquarium*, you will visit the last “abai” of Palau – a wooden house that used to serve as a meeting place for unmarried men and the planks and beams of which exhibit carved motives of the everyday lives and the legends of the locals.
Primordial Diversity on Papua New Guinea
Hundreds of indigenous peoples who live in accordance with ancient traditions - the island state of Papua New Guinea is fascinating territory for explorers where you will be greeted with songs and dances on Wuvulu Island, which is surrounded by a coral reef. Fantastic experiences await you on the Sepik River when you advance into the tropical vegetation with the Zodiacs. With a bit of luck, you will see some exotic species of birds, and you can also visit a village that will bewitch you with its original charm. The HANSEATIC subsequently heads for Manus Island for the first time. The white sandy beaches of the island promise an unforgettable expedition premiere which will be followed by another one day later - on Tingwon Island, you can dedicate yourself to bathing and snorkelling or let yourself be introduced to the culture of the island during a walk. In this context, you will find out how the native people extract sago, make plaited mats and build canoes.
You can admire the creative force of fire when you enter the harbour of Rabaul. Numerous volcanoes surround the town and at one time buried large parts of the ”Pacific Pompeii“ in dust and ashes. Explore Rabaul and its history* before you relax in the crystal-clear water of Pigeon Island.
Heavenly Days on the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu
Emerald-green rainforests and untouched beaches, ancient tribal rituals and an unfamiliar type of singing - the Solomon Islands are not only far away from our latitudes in geographic terms. The hospitable inhabitants will entice you into a world that seems long forgotten. On Pirumeri Island, you will be welcomed by the chief while the women of the village thrill you with their dancing and singing. After you have spent a relaxing time bathing and snorkelling on Uipi Island , the inhabitants of Santa Ana Island greet you in their natural and friendly way - the impressive welcoming ceremony symbolises the contrast between Polynesians and Melanesians who are represented as ”warriors“ painted in ochre respectively black colour. The ceremony on Nendoe is equally traditional - the costumes, the jewellery and the unusual music created by beating on wooden tubes are absolutely worth seeing and hearing.
You will experience the magnificent finale of your expedition in the idyllic island nation of Vanuatu. Set out from Port Vila to discover the Mele Cascades Waterfalls* in the lush green jungle or obtain insights into the cultural heritage of Vanuatu* in the village of Ekasup. Spectacular moments that you will not forget for a long time.
