Norway’s Fjord World (Gudvangen/Naeroeyfjord , Flam/Aurlandsfjord, Alesund, Hellesylt/Sunnylvsenfjord , Geiranger/Geirangerfjord )
Similar to Bergen, Flam is idyllically embedded in the Norwegian mountain landscape. The town lies at the end of the narrow Aurlandsfjord which is surrounded by steeply towering mountains which are covered in abundant green vegetation. On a Scenic Excursion from Gudvangen to Flam* breathtaking views of rocks, valleys and clear rivers are offered on one of the steepest railway lines in the world. Or enjoy nature at its purest, together with an unforgettable panorama on a Kayak Tour in the Aurlandsfjord*. Apart from deep fjords and high mountains, the coast of ‘Norway is characterised by many small islands. On three of them the town of Alesund was built, the spectacular architecture of which consists almost completely of the art nouveau style. An Excursion to the Islands Giske and Godoy*, that were already mentioned at the time of the Vikings, leads you even further back in history. You can experience Fjords, Mountains and Glaciers” on an excursion through the countryside between Hellesylt to Geiranger. From there you also start out on the Mountaintop Experience Dalsnibba*. The entrance to the Geirangerfjord is one of the highlights of your expedition: the HANSEATIC glides slowly past the famous waterfalls “Seven Sisters” and “The Bridal Veil” – the deck of the ship being a superb vantage point for marvelling at this UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.
