Kaya Yanar, Comedian
Kaya Yanar was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1973. After finishing secondary school, he went on to do a degree in philosophy and American studies in Frankfurt, where he also started his career in the show business, working as a host, a presenter and a comedian.
His secondary occupation grew into his main passion. In 1999, he moved to Cologne, where he began his first successful comedy tour of Germany. In 2001, he was given his first TV show Was guckst Du?!, which won him numerous awards, including the renowned German Television Award and several German Comedy Prizes. This was followed by several sell-out tours of Germany, Switzerland and Austria and many other successful TV appearances. In 2011, Kaya Yanar wrote the book Made in Germany and, in 2012, co-wrote and starred in the feature film Agent Ranjid. He lives with his girlfriend and two cats in Switzerland.
Nils Wülker - trumpeter and composer
Nils Wülker started taking classic trumpet and piano lessons at an early age, but it was his first encounter with jazz at the age of 16 with Miles Davis that really spurred him to devote himself wholly to music. Back during his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, he became the first ever German jazz musician to be signed by Sony Music, and in 2002 he released his debut album entitled High Spirits. The year 2003 saw the production of Space Night Jazz for the night schedule on Bayerisches Fernsehen and the foundation of his own label EAR TREAT music. In 2013, Nils Wülker was awarded the ECHO Jazz.
His latest album Up was released in five countries over seven months and features colleagues such as Mocky, Max Mutzke, Jill Scott and Craig Armstrong, and is an enchanting mix of passionate ballads and hymnal songs, extending to include cinematic vibes and genuinely hard-core grooves.
DDC - Breakdance
DDC was founded in Schweinfurt (Bavaria) in 1999 and is one of the most famous breakdancing groups in the German-speaking region today. Having started out with small appearances and taking part in battles, the group continuously developed to become German Champions, European Champions and two-times World Champions in breakdancing. The DDC dancers have been actively promoting the young talent of many children and youngsters in regular courses and workshops since 2002. Numerous appearances on public television and private channels as well as jobs for renowned customers are in the meantime part of their everyday business. They won the title “Europe’s Best Dance Show” in 2013 and founded their own company.
With “Breakin´ Mozart” the DDC and Echo award winner Christoph Hagel combine classical music, opera singing and breakdancing. Since 2014 the group played more than 250 shows in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with major success. In their new productions the DDC once again combines apparent opposites to create entertaining, challenging and humorous shows. “Breakdance in Lederhosen” connects tradition and modernity under the motto “traditional dress meets trainers, alpine music meets funky beats.” By now organizers abroad become aware of the German breakdance group. The DDC represented Germany at the Wuqiao International Circus Festival in China and opened the Bavarian Week at the EXPO in Milan, both in 2015.
At the beginning of 2016 the DDC was on tour with Europe’s most successful acrobatics show “Feuerwerk der Turnkunst”, performing two of their own shows in the biggest event halls all around Germany with more than 220.000 spectators in four weeks. From March until May the breakdancers already played their second tour through Germany in 2016, this time with “Das Beste der Feste”. Together with Florian Silbereisen and many other stars they once more showed their entertaining performances. At the YOUNG STAGE Circus Festival in Basel the acrobatic dancers won the coveted Public’s Choice Award as well as the Engagement Award of Circus Roncalli.
In September 2016 the breakdance world champions successfully celebrated the premier of their second cross over project with Christoph Hagel, the full evening show “Fuck You Wagner!”. In winter the DDC goes once more on tour with “Breakin’ Mozart” through numerous cities, before playing another big Germany tour alongside Florian Silbereisen and more stars.
