Surrounded by picturesque woods, the lively town of Marmaris will make you want to dream the day away in a sun lounger on the beach in Icmeler. Alternatively, travel along the coast in a traditional gulet**, stopping at the best points to swim and snorkel.

This port city is one of the most beautiful places in Turkey, and the narrow alleyways in its old town are the ideal place to go shopping. The roots of Ashdod reach back to the 12th century; it will be your starting point for a trip to the fortress of Masada**, which remains a contemporary symbol of Jewish freedom in the State of Israel. It towers high above the Dead Sea, where you can literally let the current carry you. Alternatively, discover many of Christianity’s most important sites in Jerusalem and Bethlehem**, including the Church of the Nativity, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Wailing Wall.

According to legend, Aphrodite came ashore in Cyprus after her birth. Follow this goddess and sense the magic of the ancient world in the vast ruins of Paphos.
