    The highlights of this cruise

Bid farewell to AUCKLAND in the evening and wake up the next morning by the beaches of MOUNT MAUNGANUI. Also known as Mauao, the 230 m (755 ft) mount is easy to explore on foot and offers a lovely view of the bay where surfers wait for the perfect wave. New Zealand has become famous around the world for lush green landscapes and inspired Hollywood to bring the home of the Hobbits, The Shire*, to life here. NAPIER also offers a filmic backdrop, having been destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 and rebuilt in the art deco style of the day. Surrounded by green hills, WELLINGTON is one of the world’s most liveable cities with its lively waterfront. Nature is also centre stage here: The Zealandia ecosanctuary* has made it its mission to revive the country’s native fauna and flora. Welcome to the South Island and welcome to the heart of New Zealand’s unspoilt nature.

Join the EUROPA for an adventure in Abel Tasman National Park, where waves lap the golden beaches and a colourful array of birds chatter in the rainforests. This is a wonderful place to get up close to the beauty of nature with a coastal hike* or a kayak tour*. The small artistic town of NELSON is a great spot to find a unique souvenir in the galleries and boutiques. The landscape around TIMARU is full of contrasts. Snow-capped mountain ranges reflected in the blue lakes make for unforgettable sights in Mount Cook National Park during a scenic flight over the glaciers*. Lean back and enjoy the views as the EUROPA cruises through the calm of the Fiordland National Park. Rudyard Kipling declared the region to be a wonder of the world back in 1900. The cliffs covered in dense vegetation and the deep-blue waterways have lost none of their magic to this day.

After two days at sea, you’ll reach TASMANIA. Australia’s wild island is a truly exciting destination. Take advantage of the opportunity to fly* over the mountain ranges, tranquil lakes and forests, take a peek into the past at the former penal colony of Port Arthur and go in search of the rare Tasmanian devil in the Cradle Mountain National Park*. Australia’s open-mindedness and the famous laid-back lifestyle in the street cafes in MELBOURNE will tempt you to venture deeper into the metropolis. The global city of SYDNEY welcomes you with cosmopolitan charm. Enjoy the white sands of Bondi Beach or visit the famous Opera House*. Take your time – the EUROPA will stay here for a full two days before your cruise comes to an end.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

Experience the world’s best golf courses with Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

On our exclusive Golf & Cruise voyages, we have reserved the best golf courses for you in advance and put together attractive basic packages.

    Basic package: Five courses
    € 2,990 per person

An extraordinary voyage of discovery awaits you way down under as you cruise from New Zealand’s North Island to the southernmost tip of Australia, Tasmania, and to the Australian continent itself. This cruise is a unique opportunity to not only explore the golfing options in the Tasman Sea, but also to get a first impression of the South Seas atmosphere that is sure to leave you wanting more.

Thu 02.03.2023 Napier, New Zealand – Cape Kidnappers Golf Club
This course is particularly challenging as excellent concentration abilities will be needed during the round. The 18 holes are laid out on a plateau right on the east coast of the North Island, with the natural landscape guiding the design. This means that every ball position has at least one new spectacular view to offer, so it is difficult to focus all of your attention on the game itself. Tip: As well as a few extra balls, make sure you take your camera in your golf bag.

Fri 03.03.2023 Wellington, New Zealand – Royal Wellington Golf Club
Situated in the uplands of the “Windy City”, this city course was opened in 1895 and was most recently redesigned as a parkland course in 2013. Its location means that the 18-hole golf adventure is also often affected by the wind. The extremely wide, often rather strongly modulated fairways won’t necessarily work in your favour. The round is traditionally opened by a starter who keeps an eye on the players’ footwear. Only white golf socks and shoes with soft spikes are permitted. However, white knee socks are preferred for guests.

Sat 11.03.2023 Hobart (Tasmania), Australia – Tasmania Golf Club
Above Barilla Bay are 18 exciting fairways, all of which challenge the dedicated golfer. Even though the layout primarily specifies straight fairways, the modulations on the fairways in combination with the strategically placed bunkers are a challenge – not to mention the visual distractions that arise during the round. The pride of the club is the par 5 of the third hole, a dog-leg to the left with 480 m (1,575 ft), which connoisseurs often compare to the 18th hole of Pebble Beach.

Tue 14.03.2023 Melbourne, Australia – Woodlands Golf Club
The British national sport has been played here since 1913. See for yourself as you play a round through the lush ancient trees that accompany the playing areas of the fairways, which are sometimes very narrow. Here, the direction of the ball is far more important than the length of the shot. Ignore this and you won’t be happy when you look at your score card!

Fri 17.03.2023 Sydney, Australia – Pennant Hills Golf Club
Today you play one of the oldest and most beautiful private parkland golf courses in the Sydney region. Already in 1923 this "jewel" was initiated on the today's area; accordingly the fairways are clearly flanked by an old ingrown tree existence. Hereby partly clear fairways are formed. Especially an intensive bunkering protects the greens of the par 3 holes. Here, despite the manageable distances, length plays a role. Experience an unforgettable golf day.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

    • In order to guarantee a comfortable flow of play for all golfers, we have determined a basic speed, which is sufficient for a playing time of 4.5 to 5 hours on foot (covering 18 holes with a trolley).
    • Due to tournaments, renovations, etc. at the various golf clubs, our Golf & Cruise programme is subject to change at short notice.
    • Golf & Cruise voyages allow all players with a handicap of 36 or less to play on courses all over the world.
    • Additional courses can only be booked in conjunction with the basic package.
    • The reservation of e-carts cannot always be guaranteed due to local availability and weather conditions. You may, therefore, have to play and walk just with trolleys - possibly even on hilly courses. Please consider this when planning/booking your Golf & Cruise package.
    • Halfway refreshments are always ordered via the respective golf club; we have no influence on the quality of the snacks. We kindly ask for your understanding.
    • When booking a Golf & Cruise package and flights through Hapag-Lloyd, we will register your golf equipment directly with the airlines – when possible and required. The current baggage regulations of the relevant airline apply. In your travel documents, which you will receive about four weeks prior to departure, you will find relevant information about this. Excess baggage fees for golf equipment are normally to be paid at check-in.
    • Minimum number of participants for basic packages: 12 persons.
    • Minimum number of participants for additional courses: 10 persons.
    • If the minimum number of participants is not reached, cancellation will occur no later than eight weeks prior to cruise departure.
    • Rental clubs for right-handed and left-handed players are available on board, subject to a surcharge.
