    The highlights of this cruise

There will be a relaxing day at sea between HAMBURG and the south coast of England. Your destination is the Isle of Wight. Yachts from all around the world bob on the waves in COWES harbour, and numerous pubs invite you to toast these wonderful views and the sights to come: many people know Cornwall’s* landscapes from books and films. A typical English coastal town, FOWEY is the ideal place to see thatched-roof cottages, endless meadows and steep cliffs with your own eyes. TRESCO also benefits from the mild climate of the Gulf Stream. The white beaches of the Isles of Scilly are reminiscent of those in more southerly regions. The illusion is perfected in the Abbey Gardens. Created in the 19th century, the garden fascinates with plants from around 80 countries – from date palms to eucalyptus trees. The “emerald isle”, Ireland surprises in KINSALE with brightly coloured houses. In Ireland’s gourmet capital, outstanding restaurants invite you to get to know the country and people. The yacht harbour is the perfect place for a final stroll. Earls resided in Bantry House* near BANTRY for many years. The castle-like manor house sits on a cliff, high above the bay. The chambers provide visitors with a stunning view of the Italian gardens. A perspective that will leave you longing for a walk. The DINGLE Peninsula is a great place to breathe deeply. The fresh sea air and expansive view of lush meadows and impressive rocky cliffs will clear your head. See for yourself on a tour along the Wild Atlantic Way*. A view that also inspires the GALWAY art scene. The lively atmosphere invites you to watch the world go by and browse the book shops and galleries. Alternatively, take an excursion to the Cliffs of Moher*. The huge cliffs stretch for more than 8 km (5 mi.) and provide a place for many species of bird to nest and land.

The Northern Ireland conflict is a difficult chapter in British history. In LONDONDERRY, the street art of the Bogside Artists* recalls these troubled times. A city walk* will provide fascinating information. Welcome to Scotland and the Isle of Mull. An island tour* provides an easy way to explore its green landscapes. In TOBERMORY, get a taste for Highland secrets in the whisky distillery of the same name. Many myths surround the Scottish highlands. The most famous is that of Loch Ness* – head to ULLAPOOL and you might learn more about the phenomenon. Stone castles, remote lakes and valleys covered in heather are sure to fire up your imagination too. Another special opportunity awaits here: try for a big catch with lobster fishermen*. ABERDEEN is a gem of Victorian architecture. Modern cafes have opened behind the historic facades of the “city of granite” and the parks promise a relaxing summer’s day. Incidentally, the Queen spends her holidays at nearby Balmoral Castle*. Leith is the harbour of Scotland’s capital, EDINBURGH*. The best way to explore the country’s cultural centre is to follow the Royal Mile. This will take you past the most important sights and through the old town to Edinburgh Castle*. The EUROPA will stay here for two days. A good opportunity to experience the city’s nightlife or delve into cinematic history one last time: J. K. Rowling dreamt up Harry Potter in the Elephant House coffee shop. The cruise then takes you back to HAMBURG with lots of new memories.

    * The shore activities are not included in the cruise price and are in the planning stage. Subject to change.

    Golf cruise

A kingdom for a golf course – or, even better, golfing in a kingdom! The cruise starts in southern England and travels around Ireland before heading to the west of Scotland. Golfing doesn’t get more British than this.

Wed 22.06.2022 Fowey – Lanhydrock Golf Club
This parkland course in the middle of Cornwall is highly influenced by the rows of trees that accompany the fairways. However, the fairway routes are very clear. Just keep going straight ahead. Even if you end up under the trees, there are always opportunities to keep your game going, allowing players of all handicaps to achieve a decent score.

Fri 24.06.2022 Kinsale – Cork Golf Club
Spanning 6,192 m (20,315 ft), this course is over 100 years old and was created by Alister MacKenzie, who also worked with Bobby Jones on the Masters course in Augusta. Here in Cork, however, things are not quite so elite. The limited space available for the course has created an interestingly compact layout. When teeing off, you will often find yourself playing over the green you have just completed. A somewhat unusual game at times, but it certainly has its charms.

Sat 25.06.2022 Bantry – Bantry Bay Golf Club
This blend of parkland and links course features very hilly fairways. Stunning views of neighbouring Bantry Bay are offered throughout the course. Given the topography, it is recommended that you use a golf cart. The traditional, historic layout will spring some surprises throughout your game – occasionally you’ll find yourself playing over the green of the neighbouring fairway.

Sun 26.06.2022 Dingle – Dingle Links – additional course
This links course on Ireland’s west coast was opened in 1924. To this day, each of the fairways bears a Gallic name. This club has a suitably traditional atmosphere. In addition to a special golfing experience, enjoy the extremely attentive hospitality of the local golfers.

Tue 28.06.2022 Londonderry – Ballyliffin Golf Club – Glashedy Course
A classic links retreat awaits, with some very heavily modulated playing surfaces. From the start, the terrain impresses with elevated tee positions that allow a view of the manageable landing areas. Those who can give their ball the right direction will reach fast, large greens with striking flag positions. By the way, the view of the surrounding terrain all the way out to the Atlantic Ocean is a massive distraction. - Anyone who comes home to the clubhouse with a good score here can look forward to a particularly successful round of golf!

Sat 02.07.2022 Leith – Dalmahoy Golf Club
“Golfing the British way” could be the slogan for this 36-hole course. The East and West Courses are both outstanding parkland courses. In good weather, Edinburgh Castle can sometimes be seen in the distance. At 6,767 m (22,201 ft) from the back tee, the East Course is described as a monster by the club itself. The West Course offers a gentler game.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

    • In order to guarantee a comfortable flow of play for all golfers, we have determined a basic speed, which is sufficient for a playing time of 4.5 to 5 hours on foot (covering 18 holes with a trolley).
    • Due to tournaments, renovations, etc. at the various golf clubs, our Golf & Cruise programme is subject to change at short notice.
    • Golf & Cruise voyages allow all players with a handicap of 36 or less to play on courses all over the world.
    • Additional courses can only be booked in conjunction with the basic package.
    • The reservation of e-carts cannot always be guaranteed due to local availability and weather conditions. You may, therefore, have to play and walk just with trolleys - possibly even on hilly courses. Please consider this when planning/booking your Golf & Cruise package.
    • Halfway refreshments are always ordered via the respective golf club; we have no influence on the quality of the snacks. We kindly ask for your understanding.
    • When booking a Golf & Cruise package and flights through Hapag-Lloyd, we will register your golf equipment directly with the airlines – when possible and required. The current baggage regulations of the relevant airline apply. In your travel documents, which you will receive about four weeks prior to departure, you will find relevant information about this. Excess baggage fees for golf equipment are normally to be paid at check-in.
    • Minimum number of participants for basic packages: 12 persons.
    • Minimum number of participants for additional courses: 10 persons.
    • If the minimum number of participants is not reached, cancellation will occur no later than eight weeks prior to cruise departure.
    • Rental clubs for right-handed and left-handed players are available on board, subject to a surcharge.
