Tue 14.08 LEITH – ROYAL BURGESS GOLF CLUB
Golf has been played here since 1735, making it one of the oldest golf courses in the world. If grass could talk, you would learn a lot about the history of golf on this course. An extremely natural course that challenges players with its healthy lengths. All in all, this course makes for a very beautiful, historical round of golf.
Fri 17.08 DOUGLAS (ISLE OF MAN) – CASTLETOWN GOLF LINKS (ADDITIONAL COURSE 1)
This extremely natural 18-hole course is situated on a peninsula on the south-eastern point of the Isle of Man. Its narrow fairways are flanked by broom plants, reeds and heather, a common sight in the region. This means that if you hit into the rough, you will have a hard time achieving a good score as the architect Old Tom Morris did not account for playing out of it. When the course was laid out, the holes were made short and straight due to the material used to make the clubs. It is therefore wise to emulate the founders.
Sat 18.08 LIVERPOOL – FORMBY HALL GOLF RESORT - OLD COURSE
The Old Course offers a challenge to golfers of every level, measuring over 7,000 yards off the blue tees and 6,500 of the yellows. The tightly mown turf provides a consistent playing surface all year round Links style pot bunkers, wooded areas and water hazards provide definition and character to a course that has hosted the European Seniors, Challenge Tour and Euro-Pro Tours.

This is golf at its purest. This is adrenaline and shot-making at its best. Designed by Colin Montgomerie, it's a journey across sweeping fairways, cavernous bunkers and impeccable greens making it one of the finest golf courses in Ireland. It's an adventure from first to last and is proud to have hosted the worlds finest golfers at the 2005 and 2006 Irish Opens.
Tue 21.08 FOWEY – ST. MELLION INTERNATIONAL RESORT
Here, 18 of the 36 holes are described as “old course”, although they are only 40 years old: this is not at all typical in the British Isles. The Kernow Course was completely renovated in 2008. This is in contrast to the Jack Nicklaus Course, which was opened in 1988 as the first Nicklaus creation in the British Isles. Both courses are characterised by very wide, playable fairways, which almost always end in quick greens.
Thu 23.08 DOVER – PRINCE’S GOLF CLUB
The typical English dune landscape is the setting for this interesting 27-hole links course, too. The untouched natural surroundings make the three sets of nine holes another spectacular sight. Here, golf is celebrated in a very traditional English manner.
Olaf Schäfer has been a fully qualified golf professional of the PGA of Germany since 1999. After professional roles at golf courses in northern Germany, he discovered the world of cruises and started working with Golf & Cruise in 2008. He has the highest grade from the PGA of Germany (G1) and successfully completed his training to become a PGA Health Professional in 2018. From then on, he has devoted particular attention to golf and well-being and uses his expert knowledge to answer any questions on these topics. On board and ashore, his golf instruction combines analytical skills with passion and individuality.
