Picturesque landscapes, world-famous culture and wonderful moments are an irresistible recipe for a diverse cruise that will take you from BILBAO along the Atlantic coastline. The appearance of the gentle hills of ST.-JEAN-DE-LUZ on the horizon heralds the Basque country. Our tip: Visit Place Louis XIV to taste regional specialities and take in the wonderful historical setting. The following morning, the EUROPA will sail up the Gironde to BORDEAUX and will spend two full days in the heart of this wine-producing metropolis. Besides its famous old town – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular filming location – life in this city revolves around its famous grapes, be it in a rustic wine bar, the futuristic Cite du Vin or the surrounding vineyards in the Medoc region*. LA ROCHELLE is a treasure trove of historical flair: three medieval watchtowers will guide you to the old harbour where you can try a cafe au lait on the quay or hunt for original souvenirs in the markets. BELLE-ILE, whose beauty has two faces, will shed light on island life in France: whereas the north of the island enjoys rugged beauty with jagged rocks, cliffs and the citadel in Le Palais, the south boasts golden beaches, green meadows and idyllic fishing villages.
Bienvenue! St. Malo will welcome you to BRITTANY. The imposing fortified walls surrounding the old town invite you to ascend the steps and enjoy fabulous views of the bay regardless of the tide. The monastic island of MONT SAINT-MICHEL* promises an equally fascinating spectacle when the tides change. Wander through the labyrinth of medieval streets in the lower town as you head up to the monastery. With four harbours and the interesting museum La Cite de la Mer, Cherbourg embraces its maritime tradition wholeheartedly. The vibrant city can serve as a starting point for excursions into Normandy and across the enchanting Cotentin Peninsula*. The lush, green meadows and vast areas of marshland will entice you to set out on a long walk and take a detour to Barfleur*, considered by many to be the most beautiful village in France.

Diamonds, silk, chocolate and waffles – the secrets of art and cuisine have been common knowledge for centuries in Flanders, Belgium. For example, in GHENT you can see trading posts and patrician houses as well as the Ghent Altarpiece, a unique masterpiece which dates back to medieval times. The smell of sweet treats fills BRUGGE* as well. Its picturesque canals and facades reminiscent of doll’s houses will make it seem like time is standing still, and a boat trip will only reinforce this impression. The best way to explore ANTWERP is in the footsteps of its famous son, Peter Paul Rubens. Many of his works can be found in his wonderfully well-preserved home and four of his greatest adorn the altar of the Cathedral of Our Lady. Back on board, Michelin-starred chefs will transform the Lido Deck into a gourmet heaven in the evening. Celebrate into the night with us and EUROPA’s Best before your cruise comes to an end in HAMBURG following one final day at sea.
