Playing the legend of Paganini, he provides an entertaining solo programme. Florian Mayer played the national anthems of all the World Cup participants in 2014 – a role he shall be reprising in 2016. This 18-hole golf course with a very generous layout is situated on a high plateau to the south of the city of Semarang. The wide fairways often provide panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. The dimensions and layout of the course will ensure you get to keep your golf balls.
Mon 12.03 SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE – MARINA BAY GOLF COURSE
The 18 holes on this course, which is just under ten years old, are lit by glare-free floodlights. This means that players are guaranteed to be able to finish their game even if they tee off late in the day. The 91 bunkers, some of which are very deep, present more of a challenge to your golfing expertise than the layout of the fairways. It is worth playing a tactical game as one more carefully considered stroke can in some circumstances lead to a better score.
Wed 14.03 PORT KELANG (KUALA LUMPUR), MALAYSIA – SAUJANA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Two very inviting 18-hole golf courses are waiting to be mastered. As you would expect, hundreds of palm trees line the Palm Course, and players often have play around the corner. However, like its counterpart, the course features some very wide fairways. The Bunga Raya Course is straighter but its greens are guarded by some massive bunkers.
Thu 15.03 GEORGE TOWN, PENANG, MALAYSIA – PENANG GOLF CLUB (ADDITIONAL COURSE)
Set in the middle of George Town, the fairways find their way through hilly terrain that used to be covered in jungle. The 18-hole (par 72) course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and has already been the venue for the Malaysia Open. Don’t be surprised if you see an iguana walking across the course.
Fri 16.03 PORTO MALAI, LANGKAWI , MALAYSIA – THE ELS CLUB TELUK DATAI
On Langkawi, the gifted golfer Ernie Els created a gem of a golf course in the rainforest. The course takes you along streams and through the flora of the island right up to the coast. For example, at the 7th hole, a 569 m (1,866 ft) long par 5, you tee off on a fairway that leads straight towards the Indian Ocean and then finishes along a strip of land beside the blue sea.
Sun 18.03 PATONG BEACH, PHUKET, THAILAND – RED MOUNTAIN GOLF CLUB
This 18-hole course is situated in the middle of an island. The course demands tactical play as the hilly landscape determines the layout of the fairways. Set in some breathtaking scenery, every shot becomes an experience. At the 18th hole, you should really make sure you keep your camera close to hand.
After his time as an amateur and professional golfer, he was a full-time national trainer to the German men’s team from 1998 to 2004. His players have gained titles such as European vice-champion and have won more than 25 international championships all over Europe. He has been an instructor at Golfclub Hamburg-Ahrensburg since April 2004 and is one of the men’s co-trainers for the national Golf Team Germany.
