History and culture are what MELBOURNE is all about and its excellent location on Port Phillip Bay will make you want to explore the city further. Australia’s most southerly outpost can be reached some 240 km (149 mi.) from the mainland. Most of Tasmania’s wild beauty is protected by UNESCO and the gateway to this unspoilt wilderness is in BURNIE. Crystal-clear lakes, wild moors and spectacular mountain peaks are to be found in Cradle Mt – Lake St Clair National Park*, which is home to some unique wildlife such as the Tasmanian devil.

Another animal kingdom is KANGAROO ISLAND, where you can see sea lions off the impressive rocky coastline. The famous Australian kangaroos also enjoy sunbathing – and you may even come across them on the white beaches of ESPERANCE. Australia’s west coast is enchanting with charming cities and fascinating landscapes – both on and under the water. BUSSELTON is famous for its first-class wines and historic dock: a walk along the jetty will take you almost 2 km (1.2 mi.) out to sea and at the end you will be treated to a view under the sea. The situation of PERTH* was described by the Aborigines as a “place of lots of sunshine”. Here the EUROPA will stay for two days in nearby Fremantle Harbour so that you can get to know the place and its people better. With its wide open green spaces, plenty of water and a relaxed way of life, the capital of Western Australia will immediately make you feel at home. The city’s landmark rises up over Swan River: the Bell Tower has eighteen bells, some of which are historic and can be heard at midday as far as the nearby Kings Park. The coral coast off EXMOUTH is impressive with its white beaches and turquoise sea – perfect for snorkelling*, and with a little luck you may see some turtles and tropical fish at the edge of the reef. There are plenty of natural beauties to see on land, too: the Cape Range National Park* is right on the coast and with its red cliffs makes for a fascinating contrast with the lagoons of the Indian Ocean. The treasures of the sea helped to make BROOME flourish in the 19th century. Once the world’s most famous pearling port, the town is still enchanting today thanks to its multicultural diversity and a pretty handmade crafts market – as well as its pearl farms* where you can learn about the secrets of pearl cultivation.

For a full day and a night, BALI, the “island of the gods”, will provide the exotic backdrop for yet more unforgettable holiday memories. Perhaps to round off your cruise, the melodies of the temple dances will tempt you to join in?

Following programmes we offer in German:

Opera ball

Once again this year, the on-board programme will be determined by the waves in waltz time as we say “Let the waltz begin.” Whilst the debutantes take to the floor for the magnificent Opera Ball at the Wiener Staatsoper in Vienna, the officers and crew members on board will start their dance thousands of nautical miles away. Here, in the midst of a sea of flowers and a venue decorated especially for the event, you can dance the night way in evening dress. At the EUROPA Opera Ball, you will also be treated to culinary delights to rival those served in Vienna.
