There is not just one paradise on earth but many. Thousands of them are scattered across the Pacific and their names alone will make you yearn for distant horizons. The gateway to the South Seas is TAHITI. As you wander through the capital Papeete looking for a special kind of souvenir, you will be captivated by the South Seas charm. Here you are just as likely to see ukulele players as women with floral decorations making traditional handicrafts. BORA BORA is like a natural treasure: a green caldera framed by coral reefs and bays glittering in the sun. The kaleidoscope of colours continues underwater and is equally impressive whether you snorkel* or take a trip on a glass-bottom boat*. The COOK ISLANDS are named in honour of the great seafarer and each island is a discovery in itself. The AITUTAKI ATOLL is a dream in turquoise and emerald. For around 45 km (28 mi.) the blue lagoon extends around the reef, in which tiny islands and white sand banks make pretty flecks of colour. A boat trip* through what is probably the world’s largest bathtub makes you want to stay forever.

“Malo e lelei” is the traditional greeting on TONGA. With around 170 islands, the last kingdom of Polynesia is the stuff dreams are made of. The island paradise of Tonga is ruled from NUKU’ALOFA, where the royal palace has stood since 1867. Like almost no other South Sea island, FIJI has made a reputation for itself: magnificent flowers, thundering waterfalls and picturesque beaches form the backdrop to this island nation. The inhabitants are also famous for their friendly hospitality, welcoming you with a traditional kava ceremony. The Zodiacs will take you to FULAGA to witness a surprising and impressive natural phenomenon: lush rocky needles grow out of the deep blue sea like mushrooms. Another South Seas picture postcard scene is DRAVUNI ISLAND. Let your feet sink into the soft sand in the shade of a coconut palm as the hours pass you by – you will never tire of enjoying the view over the crystal clear bay. The “jewel of the Pacific” is ILE DES PINS in New Caledonia. You will fall in love forever with the deserted sandy beaches, evergreen araucaria forests and the crystal-clear sea.

You have two full days to enjoy SYDNEY. On a helicopter flight*, the bird’s-eye views will whet your appetite for getting a closer look at the miles of beaches, Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Afterwards, your cruise will take you on to MELBOURNE, from where you will start your journey home.
