The cruise starts by travelling through the scenic Prins Christian Sund, accompanied by drift ice and surrounded by craggy mountains. This is followed by days filled with wild nature and exciting adventure: depending on the weather and ice conditions, the precise ports will be scheduled at short notice. They could include Paamiut on the western coast, which is considered to be the region with the largest population of humpback and fin whales. Ilulissat, the “city of icebergs” is situated on the Icefjord. Huge icebergs crash into the sea here, fed by one of the most active and rapid glaciers on the planet. This is a fantastic setting which has been a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site since 2004. Colourful wooden houses characterise the view of places such as Upernavik or Uummannaq, in which fishing and seal hunting remains a part of life. The glittering beauty of Disko Bay with its icebergs and glaciers will also delight you in good weather conditions – on a Zodiac cruising by the Icefjord. Nuuk is the largest city in the Arctic and is idyllically located between the fjord and snow-covered mountain ranges. The small national museum provides fascinating insights into the settlement history and the culture of the Inuit. Its colourful buildings also make Qaqortoq a little gem. Be surprised at what experiences the unique island of Greenland holds.
