Afterwards, visit one of the oldest settlements on the island, Sao Sebastiao*.

Fri, 06.06.2014

Madalena, 8.00 – 18.00 hrs

Sat, 07.06.2014

Horta, departure 18.00 hrs

You can find out how the island got its name on a hike to the Faial Caldeira*: glorious hydrangeas thrive right up to the crater itself, from where you can enjoy a far-reaching view. The bleak landscape surrounding the extinct Capelinhos volcano* shows how the island looked when it was first formed: in 1957 it rose thunderously out of the sea, burying a fishing village beneath it.

Golf - The best golf courses on the Atlantic, 14th MS EUROPA Golf Cup

Play on the following greens during the EUR1410 cruise:

Tue 27 May   Malaga, Spain – La Cala Resort, Campo Europa

A dramatic course but easier for the average golfer, with generous

fairways, flatter terrain and slightly larger greens than Campo America

and Asia. Notable for one main bridge and four smaller bridges across

the River Ojén, which features in eight holes, cutting across three

fairways. There are four tunnels for golf carts. Water hazards guard the

3rd and 14th greens. The 14th is at the maximum limit of what is

allowed for a par 3 at 233 metres. The par 5 11th is the longest hole at

524 metres.

Thu 29 May   Agadir, Morocco – Golf du Soleil

On this magnificent course situated between the expanse of the Atlantic

Ocean and the Atlas Mountains, you will find both relaxation and a

demanding game. There are three different courses to choose from, all of

which are a challenge for players of all handicaps with their lakes,

bridges, waterfalls, bunkers and wide fairways.

Sat 31 May    Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain – Buenavista GC

A marvellous golfing experience awaits on this course, designed by

Severino Ballesteros right alongside the steep cliffs. The spectacular

greens will make you feel as though you are hitting the ball straight

out to sea.

Mon 2 June    Funchal, Portugal – Palheiro GC

In the beautiful gardens of Quinta do Palheiro, play an exciting game

on the island of flowers – thanks to narrow fairways and strategically

placed bunkers.

Wed 4 June   Ponta Delgada, Portugal – Campo de Golf Furnas

Tee off on one of the oldest golf courses in the Azores, set in the

midst of the volcanic landscape. The green course was designed by

Scottish architect Mackenzie Ross and is very appealing with 18 holes

and a British-style club house.

Thu 5 June    Praia da Vitoria, Portugal – Clube de Golf Terceira (additional course)

This championship course lies a lofty 375 m above sea level, surrounded

by rolling hills, little lakes and beautiful flowering scenery.

The EUROPA golf arrangement can only be booked in conjunction with a

cruise and as a package as specified prior to departure. Minimum number

of participants: 10 persons. In the case of an insufficient number of

participants, the cruise will be cancelled 4 weeks before the scheduled

departure at the latest. Please note our general information and the

supplementary  Golf & Cruise travel conditions.
