We will be pleased to enquire of the local authorities whether it is possible for you to join or leave the cruise at an intermediate point. Please note that we cannot offer refunds for unused days at sea. Please use the following form for your enquiry.

Please note that it is not always possible to join or leave the cruise at intermediate points. If we are at anchor (indicated in the catalogue by an anchor symbol after the port of call), we cannot guarantee the transportation of your luggage, since we do not dock directly at the pier in these locations and take our guests to shore by tender boat or in the Zodiacs.

In the event of a change in course at short notice – due, for example, to causes beyond our control (such as the weather or a medical emergency) – you will be responsible for any additional costs incurred in order to reach or leave the ship.

For this reason, please allow sufficient time at the place of embarkation or disembarkation for you to be able to respond flexibly to any changes.

          Dress code on board

We offer our guests the following information concerning the dress code when on board the ships in our fleet:

          MS EUROPA

          On board
There is no set dress code on board the EUROPA. Guests wear casual clothing for the daytime. For the evening, gentlemen wear a suit or jacket and matching trousers and ladies opt for corresponding attire.
In the Lido Cafe, we also recommend informal attire for dinner. For especially festive occasions, formal dress is favoured. Among other criteria, the number of gala events depends on the itinerary.

          Generally, the following applies:
1 gala evening on short cruises of up to four nights
2 gala evenings on cruises of up to 15 nights
3 gala evenings on cruises of 16 or more nights

          Ashore
For excursions or private trips ashore, clothing should be particularly comfortable and practical as well as suited to the route you will travel. Sturdy footwear is recommended and flat shoes are indispensable when on board the ship and ashore

          MS EUROPA 2

There is no set dress code on board the EUROPA 2. However, we would like to recommend smart-casual clothing for evening wear in the Restaurant Weltmeere, Tarragon, Grande Reserve, Elements and Serenissima restaurants: gentlemen may wish to wear a jacket or a summer suit - a tie is not necessary.

There is no set dress code on board the MS EUROPA 2 during the day.

          MS HANSEATIC and MS BREMEN

          On board
The atmosphere on board during the day is casual. For the evening, we recommend casual-elegant attire. Only for the two captain's dinners (welcome evening and farewell evening) do we recommend a suit or jacket and matching trousers for gentlemen, and a suit or trouser suit for ladies. We request that guests should not enter public areas or restaurants in swimwear or beach attire.

          Ashore
For your excursions or private trips ashore, clothing should be particularly comfortable and practical as well as suited to the route you will travel. Sturdy footwear and flat shoes are indispensable when on board the ship and ashore. You might also wish to bring beach sandals or alternative sandals suitable for coral reefs. To ensure that you are protected from water spray on Zodiac rides and during landings, we recommend that you bring along waterproof trousers - in particular for expeditions in the polar regions. A protective waterproof bag is recommended for your camera equipment.

Special information for the BREMEN: the ship has no tender boats of its own, which means that guests will disembark in the Zodiacs when the ship is at anchor. It is always worth bringing waterproof trousers for these occasions.

On our expedition ships, rubber boots in sizes 33 to 52 are provided on a loan basis for wet landings in the Antarctic and Arctic. When cruising in the Arctic and Antarctic, please note that rubber boots must be washed in a rubber boots washer when leaving or boarding the ships.

Depending on the cruising area, parkas are also provided on board the expedition ships (and at times also on the EUROPA) for loan throughout the entire cruise. The parkas are available in American sizes S–XXXL and are not available for purchase.

          Bicycles on board

The use of bicycles is dependent on official authorisation and the cruising area.

Around 10 to 12 bicycles are available on board MS EUROPA.

MS EUROPA 2 offers 14 high-quality mountain bikes. These are not available for individual hire but are instead hired out solely in association with escorted bicycle tours. In addition, there are city bikes available (16 bicycles) which can be hired individually free of charge.

You will normally need to enquire about bringing your own bicycle. Please contact us about this, preferably in writing, by e-mail, fax or post at:

          Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten GmbH
          Ballindamm 25
          20095 Hamburg

          Fax     +49 40 307031 - 70
          E-Mail  salesteam@hl-cruises.com

On the EUROPA 2, we offer bicycle tours with our ship’s own professional bike guide. The difficulty levels vary from destination to destination. The tours are conducted with a maximum of 14 high-quality mountain bikes (hardtail, SLX components, suspension fork). This assumes, however, that the authorities in the port or destination, as well as the weather conditions when we drop anchor, allow us to bring the bikes ashore in the tenders.
